Pyjamarama Day

We didn’t bother getting dressed on Friday, instead we came to school in our pyjamas – but it was all for a good cause.

We were in our pyjamas to raise the importance of sharing a bedtime story and to support the Book Trust’s quest to make sure every child gets a bedtime story.

Thank you to everyone that took part.

Thank you Doncaster Stories

Today we feel really lucky as Doncaster Stories, the Children’s University and the Doncaster Opportunity area have provided all KS2 children with bags and craft resources to take part in the Doncaster Reading Miles challenge!

All Children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are being encouraged to read at least 10 minutes a day and to work their way round their Doncaster map, earning stickers as they reach their destination.

Completing the map will count towards the Children’s University graduation and will earn the children certificates.

We are also going to have our own friendly competition in school.

We are historians!

6B have been historians this afternoon. They have been researching why trains have adapted and changed over the years. They have realised that one of the main reasons is due to the purpose of trains and climate change. The children have written some gorgeous writing which I can’t wait to display on our Expedition display! Well done 6B!

Supporting our local mining memorial

Dennis, the lovely gentleman in charge of Markham main mining memorial, personally invited these three children back to the gardens along with numerous other schools in our area. He wanted to share our anthology of poems with them as he wanted to inspire other schools to write their own. We were so proud when Dennis read out our poem in front of the newspaper representative as well as numerous ex miners and other schools! The children also really enjoyed listening to the Markham main band!
