Time to read Tuesdays…

In crew on Tuesdays, we take a reading focus. I can’t think of anything better than finding a good book and getting completely lost in the story which could take you to anywhere in your imagination. This week, we looked at a children’s magazine with a variety of different stories in it. We scanned through the magazine to find something that caught our eye and then explained to each other what our attention was grabbed by and why.

We can explain our thinking to each other

In maths, we have been thinking really carefully about how we approach different styles of mathematical questions. Explaining our thinking to each other has helped us to realise with more accuracy where we have been successful and where we need to make improvements.

Well done everyone and an extra shout out to Alex who has shown so much enthusiasm in Maths since returning to school after the Easter break. I am so proud of you all.

We can listen carefully

Our crew challenge taught us a lot on Monday morning. We had to listen carefully to the instructions our partner gave us and attempt to draw exactly what was described to us. We learnt that the instructions we give must be incredibly specific; not too long; and that they should also be spoken clearly so that our partner can hear us.

Well done to my Magic Breakfast team too – bagels toasted to perfection. Well done and thank you, ladies.

We had a great first week back!

4H had a fabulous first week back after the Easter break and it is fair to say that we are incredibly excited about our new expedition: From Bean to Bar: What’s the cost of a bar of chocolate?

We immersed ourselves in the world of chocolate by watching Gene Wilder as Mr Willy Wonka; tasting a range of different chocolate types; looking at the artwork of Andy Warhol and designing our own packaging for a delicious treat that we will be making as our final product!

Keep working hard guys; let’s smash this final term as a team and get you year five ready! How exciting!

Coding abstract art in 5L

5L had so much fun this morning learning how to create art through coding in their computing lesson. I was so impressed with how they created some complex algorithms to create a repeating colourful pattern. The children were really engaged and seemed to enjoy how they could be creative in different ways. I’m so looking forward to seeing what they can do next week!

Striking and fielding in Y3

Year 3 had a great morning learning how to accurately throw and catch a ball in their new PE unit- striking and fielding. They practiced underarm throwing and then learnt how to throw the ball at a chosen target. Great work Year 3!

Computing in Year 1

1C had a great time this afternoon learning how to code in computing. All children were able to create different algorithms to move their characters across a screen. They also learnt how to create different backdrops and had an amazing time experimenting to see what else they could make their characters do.
