Great work so far Year 3 and 4

I just wanted to do a ‘shout out’ to all the children in year 3 and 4 who have been logging on and completing work. You really are becoming experts in using classrooms and have make such progress since last Wednesday. Well done -I’m sure you can teach the grown ups a thing or two now.

We have had some lovely practical learning being completed at home and in school to support our Natural Disasters expedition, with the home made volcanoes coming along very nicely. I can’t wait till next week when we start being scientists and completing experiments with them. Advanced notice for next week, you will need some vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and if possible (but not essential) some red or orange food colouring. If you can’t get hold of that, some Coca Cola and a mint will work too.

We have decided to celebrate learning at 2pm Friday afternoon, by turning Plover Praise time into our very own ‘Plover Virtual Disco’ – so get your party clothes on, do your hair and get ready to boogie!

Check out our wonderful volcanoes – you still have time to make your own ready for our ā€˜explosiveā€™ experiments next week.

Have your circumstances changed? YouĀ may be entitled to Free School Meals.

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, they have automatically received school meals when they were in school this year, but now we are back to learning from home, you may need to apply for Free School Meals, in order to qualify for the food vouchers to use in supermarkets.

If your child is in Year 3,4, 5 or 6 and your situation has changed, you may also be able to receive Free School Meals for your child.

Have a look at the list below andĀ  visit the DMBC website to apply if you are eligible.

The process is quick and you can find out straight away.

Please contact school if you need support in applying and we will be happy to help.

Shout Out!

Well done everyone that logged on today, either at home or in school.

There have been a few technology issues but stick with it as Iā€™m sure we will be able to sort it.

There is a button on the front page of the school website called Parent Help Centre that has step by step guides on how to log on and complete different activities in Google classroom. Ā Please have a look at this if you are having difficulties logging on etc

We are doing a practical task tomorrow afternoon, so if you are working from home, plain flour and salt will be useful ( however, you could also use playdoh.

I will share the Google Meet code for 4G class crew at 8:50, feel free to make a start on the Do Now On this day task on Google Classroom. Miss Lotysz, Miss Topliss and Miss Lister will do the same for their class.

I wanted to share the work Eva has completed today! Well done for completing the tasks and adding photographs of your work.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

New Year, New Term, New Expedition!

Good Morning Year 3 and 4 and Happy New Year,

This wasn’t quite the way I was planning to greet you this morning, as we start our new term.

WE ARE HAVING A GOOGLE MEET AT 9am THIS MORNING. PLEASE COME ONLINE SO WE CAN SEE YOU AND CHECK IN.Ā

I hope you are well and had a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas, although it may have been different to normal. Hopefully you have had time to relax and recharge your batteries ready for all the learning we are going to do together this term.

Learning is going to be different to how we first planned, it will be different to the last time we had lockdown, with more teacher led sessions online, but I know that even though it is different, we will still be able to enjoy our new expedition together.

There will be our first hangout at 1:30 this afternoon where you can see your teachers, find out more information and ask any questions. You can follow the link straight from Google Classrooms or here: https://meet.google.com/lookup/dc5q2ttazxĀ  If you need to speak to a teacher before then, you can send an email ([email protected]), send a message on Google classroom or ring school, but please be aware that the phone lines may be very busy.

Lots more information will come out through the day, so please keep an eye on the school website and blog, but I just want to reassure you that we are still here for you, you do not need to worry, if you find anything tricky or difficult, we can help you with it.

I have attached a copy of our learning from home timetable onto this blog post._Year 3_4 Working From Home timetable

See you this afternoon at 1:30

Christmas Whole School Assembly – 2020 style

Adapting and changing has been the norm in 2020 and no more so when it comes to assemblies in bubbles!

Well done Mrs Ogle for organising our end of year whole school quiz! I wonder which class will be the winner?
