Today we read the book Shubh Diwali. The children were very interested in how the people in the book celebrated. We thought about how we celebrate and what is the same as us.

Do you celebrate by doing the same things?

It has been another week of great learning from LKS2 this week.
We have been working hard on our final write in English and I have seen some excellent draft Viking Diary Entries from Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. We will be completing them next week and I can wait to see the final beautiful work.
To prepare for the write, we started the week in the role of Vikings and Monks, using our imagination and acting skills to ‘hotseat’ questions and answers about what it was like during the Viking raids. It was great to see some of the responses.
In maths we are still working on our number and place value skills – the crucial element of maths learning and Year 4 took on the challenge of rounding numbers.
As we come towards the end of our first case study, we have been finding out why the Vikings left Britain and whether they left anything behind. You don’t have to look very far to see an example of one thing they left behind -in Armthorpe!

This week, it was a unanimous decision from the class that Luca should be our Pride of Plover, but it was with a little sadness that we awarded him his certificate and yellow T-Shirt as today was his last day at Plover School. Sadly, Luca is moving to a new school, where I am sure he will soon settle in and be impressing his new teacher and classmates, but we will miss him lots in 3G.
Everyone in 3G wanted to wish Luca and his family ‘Good Luck’ for their new adventure and keep in touch!
By the way – he can keep the T-Shirt as it has been signed by everyone from year 3!

After our trip to the Harry Potter studios I was feeling inspired and bought myself some air drying clay. I made a sorting hat! Can you make something for your home learning? Bring it in to share with Miss Topliss and myself- fingers crossed my hat dries out and stays in one piece!#LovePlover

And our very deserving winner is…
Barrington does his best in everything he does. He has been working hard this week and it’s been lovely to see him grow in confidence, sharing his ideas and speaking up in class.
