Rounding numbers to the nearest 10,000 has been great fun. We are becoming more confident day by day and this activity really proved that we can be successful. Everyone rounded accurately by the end of our starter and pride was felt by all. Well done guys!

Pupils in 6H have been checking, editing and improving Mrs Haycock’s writing. Apparently, I use too many words and in the piece that was being edited, I used far too many repetitive nouns! We have been able to substitute these repetitive nouns for a different type of word. I wonder if your child can remember what we substituted with?

In crew in years 5&6 we have been learning about all the amazing work the charity 52 lives carries out. We have decided to give back to them by raising money to give towards their work. On the 15th October children in 5/6 will complete acts of kindness in and around our community. The children can come dressed in purple, red or blue and any donations would be hugely appreciated!

On Fridays, we celebrate the success of our pupils. These two children have been phenomenal this week. Demi has been so kind and caring, supporting her peers both academically and emotionally. Lucie-Mai has worked incredibly hard, giving 100% effort in all she has done since the start of this academic year.
What stars they both are!
Well done, girls.

Sorting words into specific groupings seemed simple enough at first…
I heard murmurings of, “Let’s make a table with columns ‘hard c and soft c’.”
Then the realisation struck: some words had more than one c sound within them! I wonder what 6H would do differently if they were given this task again…

Shout out to all of these superstars!
Noah and William were amazing (and then some) all day on Wednesday; Kiera and Syed have pushed themselves out of their comfort zones today and both children feel proud of their achievements; and Kyeran has persevered to be successful.
Well done Crew Haycock postcard winners!

🇺🇸 Thursday 7th October will be our American dinner day! We are asking children to come dressed in red, white and blue and join us on school dinners to try some yummy American style food🇺🇸
Every child who has a dinner on this day will be entered into a raffle to win either 2 tickets for the new Savoy theatre, a box of 12 Dunkin donuts or a sweet treat box including popcorn and chocolate! 🎟 🍩🍿
We can’t wait to try the pancakes and honey 😋
6H have been trying their best to be specific when critiquing their work. Praises make us feel good but critique makes us better! We are developing the understanding that, to make sure our critique is powerful, our comments must link back to our learning targets and that our wonders should help to prove our understanding or move our learning on.
Well done guys, we will all be experts soon!
