Doncaster Reading Miles Challenge

This next half term EYFS are going to take part in the Doncaster Reading Challenge. Each day your child reads to an adult at home in F2 or has a story read to them at home in F1 they can have a circle initialled by their grown up. When they reach one of the Doncaster destinations they can colour the picture at the bottom. Once the challenge is completed a certificate will be awarded. You can start this challenge straight away. We will be sending home the map for your child to complete.

Happy reading everyone!

Thank you! We raised just under ÂŁ100 🥪

Thank you to everyone who bought a bacon or a sausage sandwich this morning! We managed to raise just under ÂŁ100 which is amazing! Here are some photos from this morning (some children were too excited that they ran off to eat their sandwich before I managed to get a picture!)

6B’s yellow T-shirt winner is…

Maison! I couldn’t not award it to Maison this week as his recount absolutely blew me away! His presentation was fantastic and he really pushed himself to ensure he was proof reading his work and acting on critique to make it the best it could be! I am so proud of you mate! Keep up the hard work!

Want your own copy of Skry Pit Kids?

The author, Jacqueline Bellew, has very kindly sent us three signed copies of her enrapturing novel: The Skry Pit Kids.

Three lucky children from across phase 5/6 could become the owners of these books.

How to win a copy: give your name to Mrs Haycock if you want to be included in the competition; read (from your star colour); pass quizzes on MyOn or Accelerated Reader.

The three children who have achieved the most minutes read by the end of the school year will be awarded their own signed copy of this amazing book.

Get reading guys!

Super statistics!

6B have been grappling with statistics this week. They have worked extremely hard with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem solving activities. They have all worked so hard to ensure they achieved their ME and they’ve really pushed themselves to articulate strong reasoning responses. I am proud as punch! Well done my lovely lot 🌟🌟

Inspired by Learning

I love to hear how our expeditions inspire our children to go out and take their learning further.

I was thrilled today when Ashton brought a very special letter that he had received into school. Ashton wrote to Sir David Attenborough and got a lovely personalised reply back.

Ashton said that he told Sir David how much he enjoyed his programmes and that his favourite animal is a Blue Whale. Well done Ashton for taking the initiative and writing the letter.

We have had quite a few children visiting the dentist over the last few weeks. When Bradley went, he asked for photographs to compliment his learning – well done Bradley!
