Just a reminder that Year 6 stargazing is Thursday. We are asking for a contribution of £1.50 to cover the bbq costs and we will be having hot chocolates and marshmallows! We are so excited to launch our new expedition in this exciting way! Please ask your child’s class teacher if you have any questions! Children can be collected at 9:30pm
Year 4 had a great day on Friday! Thank you to all children and parents/carers for creating some fabulous Viking costumes- the children looked great! They had so much fun playing Viking games and learning a bit more about our new expedition. Keep up the great work Year 4!
I have loved teaching 6H this afternoon. What a fantastic start to our English cycle! We were hooked in by watching Pandora and we quickly realised the information we were noting down were in fact ,fact splats. We then had a silent discussion to add to the fact splats before sharing our favourite ones with a cold call. The facts will now be used to support our non chronological reports.
A shout out to Lola and Demi for being the fact splats winners!
5T have shown great examples of leading their own learning in English this morning. I am so proud of them. We recapped our protocol norms and they were away! Well done 5T I have loved teaching you this morning! Total stars!
What a fabulous start we have had in crew Topliss this morning. We reflected on our HoWLs from last week and made fresh pledges for the week ahead. We then added them to our crew display board to help remind us what we need to do to make this week the best it can be! Well done Year 5!
Year 3 and 4 proved they were ready for the challenge of being a Viking Warrior this morning, demonstrating that they have both brains and brawn in our Viking Quest.
We were given the challenge to strengthen a Viking Hoard, but only if we could complete the challenges first.
We had four quests to complete that would give us a number combination to open the lock on the Viking Treasure Chest.
The Riddle of the Runes – could we decipher the words written in Viking Runes,
Timeline Trouble – could we find the missing event on the timeline
Warrior Wordfinders, had us searching for the missing Viking word.
And finally we were Amazing Archaeologists looking for Viking artefacts in our own archaeological dig.
After we successfully showed how we could use our brains, we then show how physical we were and how we could follow instructions by playing Capture the Flag, Viking Ships and Raising the Sail.
We had a fun afternoon watching ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ for a different peek into Viking life.
I just wanted to say a big well done to all the children in Year 3 and 4, for their great effort and determination today.
Children were challenged to try things they hadn’t done before and what impressed me the most was how they kept trying and didn’t give up, even after defeats!
Behaviour was great and and judging by the children’s comments, a good time was had by all.
I am in the process of going through photos, and so there will be another blog with images of the day.
Finally, thank you to the parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters and everyone else that came to support the children today, your cheers were so encouraging for them, I hope you enjoyed your morning.
Just a reminder that Year 5’s Harry Potter dress up day is Friday 3rd September. Costumes can be as creative as you like. If you are struggling for ideas, black/grey trousers and a white shirt would be great and we will make Hogwarts ties in school. Or you can come in house colours: red, yellow, green or blue. Please don’t worry if you don’t have anything, we will dedicate the first part of the morning to making props so all children are included.
Year 5&6 had lots of fun today at ninja warrior as part of their crew team building day! We had lots of children overcome fears and push themselves outside of their comfort zones! Please keep checking your children’s class blogs to see photos of their day!
