Challenge

Miss Lotysz has 16 sweets and eats seven of them. 16 – 7 = 9

Miss Lister has 17 sweets and eats eight of them. 17 – 8 = 9

Who has more sweets left? They both have the same amount of sweets left.

Explain your answer. 16 – 7 = 17 – 8

Extra Challenge

Miss Topliss is working out which symbol to use to compare the number sentences.

14 – 5     14 + 5

The missing symbol must be = because the numbers are the same on both sides.

Do you agree with Miss Topliss? No

Explain why. Subtracting an answer will make the number smaller.

Don’t forget to share any pictures of today’s learning with me, you never know they might feature on the blog.

Amazing maths

Lots of you have been working out number bonds to 10 this week. Some of you have been spotting the patterns too.

English Thursday 25th June

Good morning Key Stage One. Today you will be writing your diary. You will need yesterday’s plan to help you with this.

Here is an example to help you if you would like to see how to write your diary.

When you are finished, please email to [email protected], and Miss Lotysz will critique your work for you.

Dear diary,

Today has been very exciting. A tiger came to tea! The doorbell rang and it was a tiger! He was tall with orange fur and black stripes. He ate all our food and he drank all of our drink. There wasn’t even any water left in the tap! Then the tiger went home. Daddy let us go out for tea. I had sausages and ice cream. We bought some tiger food. I wonder if the tiger will come back again?
