Well done Year 3/4

At the end of another busy week I would just like to say a few ‘thank yous’.

Firstly, to the tireless staff in Year 3/4, who have been working so hard to plan and deliver lessons online and in person, to support children emotionally and academically, to make phone calls and ensure everyone is safe and well and to guarantee that our expedition continues to capture the children’s imagination.

Secondly, to all you lovely supportive parents – we know many of you are juggling the roles of parent, teacher and worker all from home, trying to sort out IT problems and encourage children to learn, even when they are reluctant.

And finally, to the the children of year 3 and 4 who continue to brighten our days both in person and online. It has been a real pleasure seeing how much enthusiasm they have had for their learning and the positive attitudes they have had. They have been supportive of each other and resilient to the difficulties of trying to learn when videos keep buffering or they can’t write on a document.

Well done guys, it is a real team effort and through these challenges we will grow stronger.

From a very proud Phase Leader

Super start to Poetry from 3T and 3L!

An amazing start to poetry this week and making our own rhyming couplets! We worked in pairs to identify the rhyming words in our poem before thinking of our own rhyming words and writing our own rhyming couplets. The children really enjoyed this activity and were excited to build up their own poem. We have had some fantastic poetry from both the children working in school and online! Well done everyone!

Amazing artwork in Year 3 and 4

It has been a great week of learning for so many of our children in year 3 and 4. So many children have been logging on and completing their work, it is great to see.

I have been particularly impressed with the artwork that has been produced during the Thursday afternoon art sessions with Mrs Foster.

They have been learning about the Japanese artwork ‘the Great Wave’ by Hokusai, to link with our expedition theme of Natural Disasters and today’s lesson moved on to using a tsunami as a subject to study using perspective in their drawings.

I am blown away by the quality of the drawing and the care and pride they have put into their work.

Have a flick through our gallery below (swipe left and  right) and who knows, one day, some these pupils might be displaying in real art galleries!

Enjoy our art!

Well done Y3

Well done to Y3 today who have been working hard on their rhyming skills.

We have been working on rhyming couplets both in home and at school and the children have produced some fantastic work. The children online brought a smile to my face as some of their rhymes were really silly! It was good fun to laugh along at the rhymes together!

I want to make a special shout out for Jude. Jude’s mum emailed me to say Jude couldn’t wait to start his work. He beamed all through the lesson and even shared his poem with the group at the end! He impressed me even more when I marked his work and saw he had hand written his rhyming couplets and typed them up too!

Well done everyone, keep up the great work! #loveplover

Well done Year 3 & 4! What a week!

A big well done to Year 3 and Year 4 for how you have engaged with online learning and worked hard in school.

Who would have thought at the start of the week that we would have had volcanoes, snow and disco – but we did and so hopefully that has helped you to have fun.

Miss Topliss and Miss Lister have been full of praise of the effort Year 3 have been putting into their learning and Miss Lotysz and myself feel the same about Year 4.

I look forward to reading the shape poems that you have been writing and also seeing your photographs of the fun you have had in the snow.

Enjoy your weekend and look out for this week’s Feel Good Friday video on the blog.
