Shout Out!

Well done everyone that logged on today, either at home or in school.

There have been a few technology issues but stick with it as I’m sure we will be able to sort it.

There is a button on the front page of the school website called Parent Help Centre that has step by step guides on how to log on and complete different activities in Google classroom.  Please have a look at this if you are having difficulties logging on etc

We are doing a practical task tomorrow afternoon, so if you are working from home, plain flour and salt will be useful ( however, you could also use playdoh.

I will share the Google Meet code for 4G class crew at 8:50, feel free to make a start on the Do Now On this day task on Google Classroom. Miss Lotysz, Miss Topliss and Miss Lister will do the same for their class.

I wanted to share the work Eva has completed today! Well done for completing the tasks and adding photographs of your work.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Reminder of Protocols when working online

Good evening everyone,

Thank you so much to the children who have joined us online today and have been working in school too.

Please can we just remind you of appropriate protocols when working online, especially in the chat down the side of the video call and the streams on Google Classrooms.

These ‘chats’ are places for children and adults to talk about learning so that you can let us know if you need support or need to alert us to something. Please remember that everyone can see this. Please do not use the chat to talk to one specific child unless it is about learning and you are coaching/supporting a peer. (For example, chatting to one child making arrangements to talk later should not be done in a school chat).

We understand children will want, and need, to communicate with their friends. They can do this by coming on during Crew and sharing feelings and thoughts in circle as we would in school. Children can also communicate with their friends in private, but please can this not be done through school communication.

Finally, children should not enter the video chats before the arranged session time when a teacher is not present. The times for live learning are outlined each day on the blog and Google Classrooms. Please do not log on a long time ahead of lessons and use this as a way to chat.

I hope you understand that we are asking for this to keep all children safe and using the technology appropriately. It is so important we keep the children as safe online as we do in school.

Thank you for your understanding.

Wednesday 6th January

Good Morning,

Our face to face online learning starts at 8:50 this morning with our crew circle. Please use the Google Meet code to join.  https://meet.google.com/buw-qwsp-pqsThis is the code that we will use for all of our sessions today.

Please go onto the feelings check in on Google Classroom and complete as your do now task. We also have an on this day task (task 2) while you are waiting for people to join.

We will start our day with Crew and feelings, followed by Expedition, then English after break and then we will have maths after lunch. At the end of the day we will meet as crew and complete our howls.

We have built breaks into the day. Lunch this week will be at 11:55 for the children in school, so that will be a change to the timetable for this week.

Don’t worry if things don’t work right straight away, this is new for all of us – we will all be experts in technology soon!

Looking forward to seeing you,

Mrs Graves

New Year, New Term, New Expedition!

Good Morning Year 3 and 4 and Happy New Year,

This wasn’t quite the way I was planning to greet you this morning, as we start our new term.

WE ARE HAVING A GOOGLE MEET AT 9am THIS MORNING. PLEASE COME ONLINE SO WE CAN SEE YOU AND CHECK IN.

I hope you are well and had a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas, although it may have been different to normal. Hopefully you have had time to relax and recharge your batteries ready for all the learning we are going to do together this term.

Learning is going to be different to how we first planned, it will be different to the last time we had lockdown, with more teacher led sessions online, but I know that even though it is different, we will still be able to enjoy our new expedition together.

There will be our first hangout at 1:30 this afternoon where you can see your teachers, find out more information and ask any questions. You can follow the link straight from Google Classrooms or here: https://meet.google.com/lookup/dc5q2ttazx  If you need to speak to a teacher before then, you can send an email ([email protected]), send a message on Google classroom or ring school, but please be aware that the phone lines may be very busy.

Lots more information will come out through the day, so please keep an eye on the school website and blog, but I just want to reassure you that we are still here for you, you do not need to worry, if you find anything tricky or difficult, we can help you with it.

I have attached a copy of our learning from home timetable onto this blog post._Year 3_4 Working From Home timetable

See you this afternoon at 1:30

Merry Christmas 4G

We have had a lovely two weeks in 4G with the build up to Christmas.

A great Christmas jumper day yesterday was followed by Christmas party day today!

We had a quiz, watched our Roman video and played party games.
At the end of the day, we received lovely Christmas bells.

Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

What did the Romans do for us?

What an amazing half term it has been for Year 3 and 4.

We learnt so much about the Romans and what they did for us.

To finish off our expedition, we worked really hard to produce a video showcase of what we had learnt.

We know you have been excitedly waiting anticipating the red carpet premiere of our amazing work. I am pleased to announce that the wait is finally over!
Get yourself some popcorn and a drink (or flamingo tongues if you want to get into the Roman mood), sit back, relax and enjoy as we proudly present Plover Productions Rocking Romans…..

Christmas Whole School Assembly – 2020 style

Adapting and changing has been the norm in 2020 and no more so when it comes to assemblies in bubbles!

Well done Mrs Ogle for organising our end of year whole school quiz! I wonder which class will be the winner?

Merry Christmas from LKS2

As the term comes to a close, Year 3 and 4 have been working really hard to bring a little festive cheer.

This year we have faced so many changes and has been difficult for so many, so we wanted our Song for Christmas to reflect in a fun way.

Hopefully it will make you smile!

Merry Christmas from all the staff and pupils of LKS2
