On Friday, we had an excellent, informative talk from Doncaster museum. We have had a mix of Case Study One and Case Study Two – both History and Science were covered as part of the workshop. We learned all about medicine over time, and how this has adapted and changed. We learned about the difference between a pandemic and an epidemic and we explored how people reacted to different viruses throughout history. We learned about significant individuals throughout history, too. The museum staff even fetched some real objects for us to handle from the museum collection, which we were so lucky and grateful to have had in school. What an amazing experience! #LovePlover

We are researchers!
Year 5 have worked incredibly hard this afternoon during their history case study to research different pandemics that have happened throughout history. They are preparing their facts ready to educate others in the class who have learned about a different pandemic. It is great to see how well they are leading their own learning, well done 5T! #LovePlover
We are celebrating better world day on the 5th May!
We will be celebrating better world day on Thursday 5th May (a day early). We are asking children to come into school in blue or yellow and we are asking for voluntery contributions of 50p to raise money to send funds directly into Ukraine to support those in need.
We are also challenging children to take part in better world day by completing acts of kindness to make the world a better place and sharing these acts of kindness to myself- [email protected] so we can share all of the kind and wonderful things you get up to.
Thank you

Times Tables Superstars!
Lola, Brogan and Nik have answered the most times tables questions correctly this week. Extra shout out to Nik for scoring so highly that he has almost matched the Y6 scores! Well done to you, Nik! Watch out Lola: Brogan was only 8 correct answers behind you! I wonder if anyone can beat the current record of 200 correct answers between now and next Tuesday?

Historians in action!
This afternoon, 5T are sorting statements which either tell us a way illness and disease were treated in the past, or in the modern day. We are disgusted that one of the treatments in the times of the Plague was to drink your own urine! YUCK! #LovePlover
Change to the London itinerary!
We have had to make some amendments to our London trip and we have some very excited Year’s 5&6 children. Unfortunately, we will not be able to go to Harry Potter studios but we will be going on the London eye and enjoying a day at Legoland (as well as watching Matilda the musical and enjoying a two course dinner at Bubba Gump’s)!
I will be hosting a parent meeting to discuss the trip further on the 16th May at 3:15pm.
All payments are due by the 5th May. Any questions please pop me an email.

Goggles please!
Swimming lesson 2 has gone swimmingly well [sorry, could not resist the pun]. The children were a lot more confident this week and seemed to have improved from last week.
The instructor has noticed a lot if the children are wiping their eyes and has said that the children would be more comfortable wearing googles.
Please could you buy or see if you have a pair of googles your child could wear to swimming as they would make them more comfortable.
Thank you Year 5 team.
