Pride of Plover/ Plover Praise

Well done Mia, for being our yellow t shirt winner; you are always getting smart and working hard. You are also kind, helping others and coaching where you can. You are a credit to our class!

Jack also gets a shout out for working hard in Expedition and English this week. A superstar!

Y6 Harry Potter studios consent form deadline-Friday 14th May!

Thank you so much to those who have signed and returned their consent form for the Harry Potter studios tour. As we need to act quickly to secure our tour, we are only able to book places for those children who have returned their slips by Friday.

We will be raising funds for the children’s tea at the service station on our trip by selling bacon/sausage sandwiches next Friday to 5/6 children. Please remember your £2 next Friday to secure your sandwich. We will also continue to fundraise this summer towards further leavers celebrations. Thank you so much for supporting these fantastic opportunities for your children.

Sweet Maths!

Today, we have had fun in maths by finding the percentages of the amount of flavoured sweets in a whole bag of Starburst. It really helped the children to visualise what percentages look like and make connections to decimals and fractions. Awesome Maths!

Pride of Plover

Well done to Ruby for winning the Yellow T-shirt today. She has produced an excellent piece of writing describing Harry Potter’s first train journey to Hogwarts. It was written so well, I struggled to find an I wonder. Keep up the awesome work Ruby!

Giving back to our mining community…

Today, Noah, Lola and Agrima represented crew 5/6 and took the money we raised for Markham Main mining memorial to Dennis along with copies of our anthology of poems. The poems will be placed on a plaque to go inside the memorial garden. We feel proud of our mining community and we desperately wanted to give something back to them once we had learnt all about the miners and how they shaped Doncaster in our last Expedition. The sponsored walk was an amazing way to raise funds and we’d like to thank everyone who took part and sponsored our pupils. The anthology of poems are available to purchase for £1 each and the money raised will be donated to Markham Main. We are so proud of you all 5/6!

Pyjamarama Day

On Friday 14th May, we will be celebrating Pyjamarama Day in school. Children are invited to come to school in their pyjamas for a suggested donation of £1. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of a bedtime story for all children. Donations will go to the National Book Trust, who use the money to help all children have a story in their homes to read. Children will be participating in some fun activities in school on this day, all linked to reading for pleasure.

Today we are readers!

This morning, we have worked collaboratively to find out the meaning of unknown words from our key text: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
