Tallia, Carys and Bella blew me away this dinner time. They were the first to go over and help the dinner ladies clean an accidental spillage. They were so kind and I felt so proud to see these three girlies showing exemplary be kind behaviour so they won a dip in the box and a plover postcard. Well done you 3! Keep it up!
Year 4 had a great day on Friday! Thank you to all children and parents/carers for creating some fabulous Viking costumes- the children looked great! They had so much fun playing Viking games and learning a bit more about our new expedition. Keep up the great work Year 4!
Congratulations to all of Crew Plover who participated in last Thursdays sports day – children you were awesome, staff you were superb organisers and parents/carers you were fantastic support!
We hope you all enjoyed it, as it was a brilliant way to welcome everyone back and start the school year!
The overall Crew colour winners was 🥁🥁🥁🥁 YELLOW CREW 🟡🟡🟡🟡🏆 who will be awarded the trophy at this weeks Pride Of Plover assembly.
Year 3 and 4 proved they were ready for the challenge of being a Viking Warrior this morning, demonstrating that they have both brains and brawn in our Viking Quest.
We were given the challenge to strengthen a Viking Hoard, but only if we could complete the challenges first.
We had four quests to complete that would give us a number combination to open the lock on the Viking Treasure Chest.
The Riddle of the Runes – could we decipher the words written in Viking Runes,
Timeline Trouble – could we find the missing event on the timeline
Warrior Wordfinders, had us searching for the missing Viking word.
And finally we were Amazing Archaeologists looking for Viking artefacts in our own archaeological dig.
After we successfully showed how we could use our brains, we then show how physical we were and how we could follow instructions by playing Capture the Flag, Viking Ships and Raising the Sail.
We had a fun afternoon watching ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ for a different peek into Viking life.
I just wanted to say a big well done to all the children in Year 3 and 4, for their great effort and determination today.
Children were challenged to try things they hadn’t done before and what impressed me the most was how they kept trying and didn’t give up, even after defeats!
Behaviour was great and and judging by the children’s comments, a good time was had by all.
I am in the process of going through photos, and so there will be another blog with images of the day.
Finally, thank you to the parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters and everyone else that came to support the children today, your cheers were so encouraging for them, I hope you enjoyed your morning.
Well done to Year 4 on a fantastic sports day, the Year 4 crew are so proud of you all. It was great to see you all being really supportive, joining in and showing great behaviours!
As you can see, we started off all excited and by the final race, we were very tired.
This afternoon our Crew created our Crew shield. Our crew colour is blue so the children worked collaboratively together to create our Viking shield. Our expedition this term is all about Vikings so it gave the children a great taste of what’s to come! Well done Crew!
What a great first day back! So many smiling faces – on both children and staff!
It was great to get the whole phase together for an assembly this afternoon – the first time I have been with my full phase for a very, very long time – and I was very impressed by the way children listened and shared their ideas.
We are having a ‘Getting to know you’ week this week, and tomorrow, children will spend the day in their crews, starting to create their new crew identity and getting to know their crew leader a little bit better.
Each year group has three crews and three crew leaders and we are lucky to have Mrs Danielska join the Year 3 crew and Mrs Carter join the Year4 crew as crew leaders. Children will start and end their day in their crews and crew leaders will be available at the end of the day to dismiss children from the Year 3 or Year 4 door, where the usually leave from.
On Thursday, we are holding our Sports day. Parents are welcome, please see Mr Meade’s blog post for more information.
On Friday it is our dress as a Viking day. We are launching our expedition “Coming to Doncaster – why then, why now?” with some physical and mental challenges and we will enjoy watching How to Train Your Dragon in the afternoon. Please don’t spend lots of money on dressing up outfits – there are lots of great ways to create a costume without lots of expense.
Just a reminder that we have our visit to Murton Park, York, on 13th and 15th September. please return you permission slips as soon as possible. The trip can be paid for through parent pay.
Finally, thank you for your patience at the end of the day when you are collecting your children. I know it is a little slow while we get to learn names and faces, but we need to make sure that the children are safe. I promise will get quicker.
If you have any questions, please speak to your class teacher or myself. Or if you prefer you can email me on [email protected].
