Shout Out to Readers!

I just wanted to give a shout out to the children in KS2 and staff (Mrs Thomson and Miss Kier), who have been staying after school to do reading club.

It has really been picking up and thanks to parents for supporting the children to attend the club.

Keep up the good work guys!

Halloween Film Night

Just a polite reminder that if your child goes to club on a Thursday night they still need to pay the £2 if they want to go to the film night tomorrow. There will be lots of treats and goodies, it’s going to be a brill night so please pass your £2 to your class teacher. #LovePlover

Super subtraction

We have been learning how to use column method to complete subtraction equations in year 4 today. We worked collaboratively to solve equations and coach each other.

A Great Week for LKS2

It has been another week of great learning from LKS2 this week.

We have been working hard on our final write in English and I have seen some excellent draft Viking Diary Entries from Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. We will be completing them next week and I can wait to see the final beautiful work.

To prepare for the write, we started the week in the role of Vikings and Monks, using our imagination and acting skills to ‘hotseat’ questions and answers about what it was like during the Viking raids. It was great to see some of the responses.

In maths we are still working on our number and place value skills – the crucial element of maths learning and Year 4 took on the challenge of rounding numbers.

As we come towards the end of our first case study, we have been finding out why the Vikings left Britain and whether they left anything behind. You don’t have to look very far to see an example of one thing they left behind -in Armthorpe!
