Postcard Thursday!

I didn’t just give out one or two postcards today but three! I’m so proud of the children for working hard today. They really impressed me in this morning in the hall for Plover Praise whole school assembly in the hall. We all sat quietly and listened Mrs Coward. Congratulations to Aseel for getting the Plover Praise card for being a general overall superstar! All of 2B would like to thank you for being a kind friend and always supporting anyone who needs it!

Have a lovely long weekend and I’ll see you all on Tuesday!

Just a quick note to say!

Good afternoon! We’ve had a busy day in 2B today, we’ve had not one but two English lessons! We have been enjoying reading a book by Kamala Harris called “Superheroes are Everywhere” and we’ve been writing sentences about why we might consider ourselves as heroes.

This morning in crew, we have been given the special task of inventing a name for a new street currently being built in the area! I personally think that Crew Barker came up with the best name, but we shall have to wait and see which name was voted the winner. The names with the most votes will be put forward to the council. Afterwards for “We Care Wednesday” we looked into stereotypes. We decided that football was for girls and boys and that girls play video games too.

I would like to say I’m really proud of how kind 2B are. The children are very quick to support each other when they spot someone is sad! I’ve noticed it is easy for the children to achieve 3’s and 4’s in their be kind HOWLs everyday! Shutout to Alina who has amazing manners and is always very polite to staff and other children.

I apologise I wasn’t there to see the children out this afternoon. Please can I ask all adults to check their child’s school hoody/cardigan/jumper to see if they’ve taken home the right one and also if they haven’t already, please put their name on the labels. There was a pile of cardigans/jumpers on my chair before I left today so tomorrows mission is to track down who they belong to! Thank-you to everyone supporting their children with their reading at home I’ve been very impressed. Unfortunately there’s a lot to pack into a school day and our support staff have been absolute heroes this term, but Miss Millington did have to take my crew this afternoon, so I apologise if books have not been sorted/rectified – please be patient with us on this! (On the other hand she might’ve been able to sort books so ignore me if so!)

PE Tuesdays!

We had so much fun this afternoon in PE playing team games. Then we had a reflection and a look back on our favourite parts of hook week! Well done to Roscoe today who got the postcard! I will make sure to blog our superstar of the day so we can celebrate their achievements and I apologise to all the children who previously got a postcard from me because I forgot to blog it! Keep bringing in those photos of your real life heroes from home. We’ve had photos of Lena’s Uncle who is a policeman and Khongkwan’s Dad who used to be in the navy! The children were so proud to show us their photos, thanks for bringing them in! I’ve put them onto our display board.

Lost Spider-Man mask KS1 children

Evening Plover parents,

All KS1 had a wonderful time on Thursday and Friday for our special dress up days. It was great to see so many children getting involved. As it was such a warm day on Thursday, some children did take off their superhero outfits and one of the Spider-Man masks has unfortunately gone missing, which had their name on it. Please could kindly ask all parents to check their child’s bag and belongings to ensure the mask has not been misplaced.

Thank you so much for your co-operation with this.

Look forward to seeing all your lovely faces in the morning.

Miss Newton😁👍🏻

Monday Motivation

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend! Just a few notices before I talk about today because I don’t want to forget! I’ve handed out a letter tonight asking if the children could bring in and share photos of family members who are real life heroes. It could be because of their jobs, achievements or something amazing they have done! We will be using them as part of our expedition display. Also please remember to bring in PE kits tomorrow!

I’m so proud of you all today I’ve noticed a lot of you helping each other and noticing when your friends need help in English and Maths. Keep this up!

Hero Parents Help

Hi lovely KS1 Crew,

We would love the children in KS1 to bring in and share photos of their family members or friends who are real life heroes whether that be their jobs, their achievements or for something amazing they have done!

The photos will be used as part of our expedition display to celebrate real life heroes in our community!

Thank you for your continued support for your child’s learning.

Thank You Ben Parkinson!

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Ben Parkinson to KS1 on Friday… a true inspiration and real life hero! Ben and his parents were amazing, so kind and generous. They shared Ben’s story, answered the endless and purposeful questions all the children asked, and showed all his truly magnificent accolades – which the children and staff all got to touch and were just simply in awe.

This expert visit topped off a fantastic hook week which has definitely immersed our children into the expedition ‘What will I do to be a hero in my community?’

Check out all the brilliant photos and videos from Bens visit – THANK YOU Ben from all of KS1 Crew!

Super 2B!

I loved seeing your superhero costumes today 2B! We’ve had a fab day. Remember tomorrow is dress as a real life superhero, think doctors/nurses/firefighters/soldiers. We have a very special guest coming in to talk to us tomorrow, he’s a real life hero from Doncaster and we are very honoured to have him in school!

We will be changing reading books on Mondays/ Wednesdays and Fridays. I’m sorry children and parents I forget to send them home today! I will put a reminder on my desk because they definitely need to go home this weekend!

Shout out to all the children who have earned postcards so far this term! I’ve also made a pledge to the children (because I keep getting names wrong) that every time I get a name wrong I will make a tally and when I get to 28 I will get some sweets! But they need to be super smart in class otherwise I remove a point. Be on your best behaviour tomorrow 2B, I can’t wait to see your costumes!
