Food tasting

We shared different Indian food today. The children really enjoyed the poppadom but weren’t keen on samosas or onion bhajis. We talked about the ingredients in the story and the Indian food and whether we thought we would like them.

Food tasting

Today we have tried some delicious Indian food including pakoras, samosas and naan bread. We also discussed some ingredients from our story, Chapatti moon, that Indian people use a lot to cook with.

Story time

As part of Black History Month F2 had the opportunity to virtually meet Mayowa Precious Agbabiaka today. She read her story There’s Rice at Home. We learnt about the food that was in the story and what was different to the food we have.

Exploring clay

Today we have started making Diva lamps ready for Diwali. The children enjoyed using their fine motor skills to make the clay pots. They enjoyed throwing it on the table, squashing and rolling it. When the pots were large enough for the candle, the children squeezed the end, smoothed the sides and made circles on the sides ready for painting.

We will paint them when they are dry. I am sure they will look beautiful.

Diwali Diya Lamps

Today in F2 we made our very own Diya lamps out of clay. The children practiced their fine motor skills as they pinched and squeezed the clay to make it into a bowl like shape. We are very excited to paint them next week and place a candle inside.

Diwali

We have enjoyed hearing, and role playing, the story of Rama and Sita today. We have dressed up and used masks to retell the story. We used salt dough to make a diva lamp that we will decorate next week.
