2P have been learning about the Vikings as part of our Expedition and we used our artistic skills to create a paper sculpture of a Viking Longboat. It was extremely challenging and we had to use great teamwork, communication, resilience and perseverance. In the end, we got there and did a fabulous job! Well done 2P!

2P has been learning all about the Space artwork produced by the artist Peter Thorpe. We used this inspiration to create our own pieces of artwork where we painted with everything EXCEPT a paintbrush! We used sponges, card and combs to produce the overall effect of a rocket in space. We think they look amazing!

Thank you Mrs Coates for spending the morning with our F2 children to expertly show and make gingerbread men with all of our children. #LovePlover
In 2L we have been busy getting our Final Product ready. We have been drawing our self portraits and critiquing and improving them after every draft. The children have been developing and practising their sketching and shading skills and have done a wonderful job!

Using the skills we had practised, 2P created a first draft of their self-portraits. They then reflected and critiqued their work and then did one more final draft. What a huge improvement! Well done to 2P for demonstrating their perseverance and observational skills. We can’t wait to see our creations added to our final product!

As part of our hook week for our new expedition ‘At the Coalface’, we have used a linked medium (charcoal) to develop our skills in art. We used techniques of blending, smudging, cross-hatching and stippling to affect areas of light, shade and texture. I was so impressed with your focus and resilience when it came to improving your abilities – well done!
For our Mother’s Day cards we drew butterflies, to link to our expedition. We worked hard to ensure our butterfly was symmetrical and learnt how to use shapes to build up our picture. Mrs Williams was so proud of how beautiful they turned out and how hard we all worked.
We hope all the special mother figures in our lives, have a lovely day celebrating on Sunday!
