It was nice for our F2 children to spend time with the Y5 children this week. Thank you to the Y5 children who helped our children play different games and sports activities! #LovePlover

Innovating the Gingerbread Man
Yesterday and today the children have come up with different ‘happily ever after’ endings to innovate our Gingerbread man story. Well done to the children who have worked hard to write their ending independently using finger spaces, Fred fingers and correct letters.
Beautiful writing from Laura “The dolphin makes a magical bridge for the Gingerbread Man to cross the river!” #LovePlover
Wiggle and Squiggle
In TGB crew today we focused on our core strength, writing letters and crossing the midline. #LovePlover

Food gives us energy
In crew we learnt that different food has different amounts of energy. We use the energy from our food up when we are active. Food is our fuel. So, if we eat lots and lots of food, we need to use the energy up.
We went outside and used up our energy by doing relay races.

Oakland Care Home Visitors
Thank you to the lovely ladies who came to read stories to our children yesterday. We can’t wait to share our stories with you as part of our final product. #LovePlover
How can we help the Gingerbread Man?
After reading the story, the children made predictions of what might happen if the Gingerbread man fell in the river: float, break, snap, melt, turn to liquid, crumble, go soft, sink, make the water brown.
So we did a science experiment to see. We put the Gingerbread man into water and we were correct… he dissolved and went into a soggy mush. After, we thought of different ideas to help the Gingerbread Man so he didn’t fall in the water. #LovePlover
Visitors from Oaklands Care Home
We are not sure if we loved it more or if our visitors loved it more today? Residents from Oaklands Care Home came to share some stories. Some of them loved reading to the children and some of them loved hearing stories with the children. Ernest used to be a teacher and even taught Mrs Price when she went to school! We showed off our counting too to see if it helped him feel like he was back in the classroom at Hall Cross. We got lots of smiles from him, despite him missing all the skittles when he played bowling with us 🙂
Lizzy loved reading to the children and made lots of friends- Mrs Reeve said she was after her job! There was lots of giggles and joy shared.
We hope to see our new friends at our Celebration of Learning later in the term.
VE Day Celebrations
What a lovely time we had singing WW2 songs and sharing a picnic soon the school field at lunchtime today, to commemorate 80 years since VE Day.
After posing for a whole school photo, it was time for a bit of fun, with some dancing and singing some more recent tunes!
We took a moment to thank those who gave their lives for us today.

VE Celebrations in F2M
We learnt about the history of VE day and why we celebrate it. Then we made VE crowns, flags and banners. We played lots of bowling games. We enjoyed a proper British picnic and listened to music to remember VE day. #LovePlover
Tummy time
In F2BP this afternoon we did tummy time. This makes our tummy muscles stronger for writing. We listened to music and this will prepare us for re-telling our story tomorrow.
