Donuts!

A massive congratulations to Tim who was the winner of our reading incentive over the last month. Every child who read a book (either online or in school) earned an entry into the draw. The wheel was spun yesterday and Tim was our lucky winner. Massive congratulations to you.  Please don’t eat all of your donuts in one go or you might be regretting it!

Well done to everyone who managed to get involved and keep up that amazing reading practise!

Dunkin Donuts!

Children across school have been reading and quizzing to be entered to win a box of 6 Dunkin Donuts. Your teachers are incredibly proud of the effort you have put into reading over the past few weeks!

Due to success of this competition, we have decided to run the competition again! There will be a winner from each class and every time you read (and quiz for those children in KS2) in school or at home, you will be entered into the draw!

You have from Friday 26th February until Thursday 26th March to enter. Winners will be announced in Pride of Plover assembly on Friday 27th March, with the winners bringing their boxes of donuts home from school with them!

Good luck everyone!

World Book Day – Friday 5th March

World Book Day will be celebrated in school and at home on Friday 5th March. We would love all children to get involved in the fun. This year, the theme of World Book Day will be ‘Books That Make You LOL’. We would like to invite all children to dress up as a character from a book that makes them laugh. There will be prizes up for grabs for the most creative efforts put into a costume.
Please see our exciting World Book Day Google Site for all the information you will need for the big day!

Determined learners.

Well done 2P for all of your brilliant efforts this week. I have really seen how resilient and perseverant you are being with your learning. You all deserve a huge shout out for this.

I also want to give a shout out to Shayen for his brilliant use of bar models to represent his multiplication problems. Your learning was so clear. Shayen, Scarlett, Ara and Luca have also earnt a shout out for their first drafts of their fire safety posters. You can really see the progress from the first plans all the way to the improved first drafts. You all deserve my virtual Plover Praise postcard for your brilliant work. Well done!

World Book Day

World Book Day will be celebrated in school and at home on Friday 5th March. We would love all children to get involved in the fun. This year, the theme of World Book Day will be ‘Books That Make You LOL’. We would like to invite all children to dress up as a character from a book that makes them laugh. There will be prizes up for grabs for the most creative efforts put into a costume.
There will be a ‘decorate a potato challenge’ which we invite everyone to have a go at. You can decorate a potato as a character from any book or even decorate several potatoes if you are making a scene from a book. We also will have a competition just for fun based on the TV show, ‘The Masked Singer’. Staff have hidden their identities behind books and you will be using the clues to discover who is behind the mask!
Vouchers will be emailed to all parents and carers for the World Book Day £1 books. These will take the place of the normal paper vouchers. Some shops are requesting paper copies of the vouchers so please check before spending the voucher. If you find you need a paper copy but do not have access to a printer, please let your child’s teacher know and they will print you a copy.
We can’t wait to see your costumes and celebrate with you!

Welcome back!

Good morning 2P!

I hope you have had a nice half term and a chance to get away from your screens for a while. We are fully back into our learning today. Hopefully, we will find out later that we only have a little while longer to work like this until we can have everyone back in school to learn together again. Fingers crossed!

Lets call this a final push to get involved with our learning from home and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on today’s live lessons. Remember to keep sharing your learning with me so that we can celebrate it together.

Have a great day!

Happy Half Term Holidays from KS1

Hi Everyone,

The Crew in KS1 wanted to say …

…to all our fabulous children and parents.

It has been a ‘strange’ half term with some of our children working online and some in school.  But you have adapted and worked so well.  You have made us all super proud.

Over the last week we have been scientists exploring materials, this has included sorting materials, looking at the properties of materials – including burning them!  You have seen this work on the class blogs.

Many of you have enjoyed baking this week – I hope you really looked at how materials change when mixed and cooked!

In maths you were creative with the resources you used to help you.

Now I hope you all have a really well earned rest over the half term.  Let’s hope that next half term at some stage it is safe enough for us all to be back in the classroom together.

Keep safe everyone

KS1 Crew

Plover school sharing the love 💗

I am so proud of all of the children who contributed to the Santander ‘thank key workers’ valentines display. This is the display so far and I am sure you will all agree, it looks beautiful! Keep an eye out for the video of all the contributions, which will be coming very soon! Well done everyone!

Fire! Fire!

The good news is that I didn’t hear the Fire engines rushing down the streets near school yesterday as you all took to your expedition learning! I received lots of pictures of your scientific investigation into the properties of materials and their suitability for different uses. A huge shout out to all of the children that took part but also a shout out to your adults for supervising things so brilliantly.

Luca, Darwin, Shayen and Scarlett all showed the different materials that they experimented with and the observations that they made were brilliant. Great use of the scientific vocabulary! Shayen took things even further and used our brief introduction to heat changing the state of an object by putting snow onto his fire to extinguish it. Superb learning! You have all earned the Plover Praise Postcard for your efforts.
