Rainbow Bear’s Crew Journey

In expedition yesterday, we discussed how special ‘Dogger’ is to Dave. We linked it to how special our crew bear Rainbow is to each and every one of us. Then we thought of some rules on how we should look after Rainbow. We showed democracy by voting for our 5 most important rules that us and our families should follow when looking after Rainbow. Crew Meade are so excited to take Rainbow home and go on lots of adventures. Birthday girl Alicia, was the first to take Rainbow home yesterday. She drew a picture of her and Rainbow playing on the trampoline which they jumped on in her garden together. I wonder what else Rainbow will get up to? #LovePlover

Balancing and Core Skills

Life time achievements, team work, problem solving, having fun, perseverance and resilience. This is what out door play is all about! Shout out to Tommy, who can now balance and walk on the stilts.
It was great to see so many other children developing their gross motor and core skills and using their balance and coordination in PE to create and climb along their obstacle course. #LovePlover

Explore 4

In maths today and yesterday, the children have been exploring the number four. Using our subitising skills, counting skills and matching skills. It was great to see so many children in provision use, find and make four in different ways and shapes. Abbie said “2 and 2 makes 4 it is a square. 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 makes 4. It is a line”. Shout out to Kira who made a tower of 20 and counted all the cubes! #LovePlover

Celebration Crew

We have given out plenty of Plover Praise Postcards in Crew this afternoon in F2! Well done to the children who has received one for being kind, working hard and getting smart. Have a lovely weekend everybody! #LovePlover

Lennon’s generous donations to the Plover pantry

A huge shout out to Lennon for his generous donation for the Plover pantry. A beautiful example of a ‘4’ in his ‘be kind’ strand of his HoWLs.

A polite reminder that we are kindly asking for donations towards harvest in exchange for participating in the colour run next Thursday. Please pass your donations on to your child’s class teacher who will blog the photos.

It’s all material.

2P have continued our investigation into materials and the suitability of materials for different purposes. We sorted materials by their properties and then investigated whether they were waterproof, strong and windproof. We discovered that materials can be different depending on what they are used for. We tested whether our outside wooden shed was waterproof by standing inside it and pouring water over the roof. We discovered that although the wood was generally waterproof, there were a few holes that allowed the water in! A small shock for a few children! We then collected our results and decided which materials would be best to build a house from.

Beautiful Work This Week

Outward Bound 2024: XP Doncaster and XP Gateshead

This year, we were lucky enough to have new Year 7s from both XPD and XPG working closely together at the Ullswater and Howtown Outward Bound centres. As a result, we were able to capture these wonderful highlights of both sets of students building Crew and expressing what it means to be Crew at the end of their week in their first ever presentation of learning.

Beautiful Curation across the XP Trust

More beautiful work has been made public this week – in both Plover and Carcroft School. Look at these awesome selections from final products, now curated for all to see!

XP Trust Crew Away Day @ YWP

Our Heads, Admin, Facilities and Comms Crews came together to further develop positive relationships and build Crew at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They spent the day exploring Case Studies to improve communication and conceptual understanding around day-to-day crucial aspects of what we do at XP Trust.

The day was extremely positive and productive – thank you to YWP for your hospitality!

To be or not to be!

2P have been learning about different verb types in English. We are becoming very good at recognising action verbs and verbs ‘to be’ and ‘to have’. We went on a verb hunt today to spot each different type of verb and then we recorded them in the correct group. Great work 2P!
