Dissolving materials – we are scientists.
We had a great afternoon predicting what would effect the speed of sugar dissolving. The children found that the warmer the water, the more sugar would dissolve.

Today, we had three minutes to prepare a quick demonstration of the difference between orbit and rotates in order to explain how the planets moved. We then had to deepen our knowledge by reading a part of an explanation text and feeding back to our group the main points of what we had read.

We can round numbers!
Rounding numbers to the nearest 10,000 has been great fun. We are becoming more confident day by day and this activity really proved that we can be successful. Everyone rounded accurately by the end of our starter and pride was felt by all. Well done guys!

We can edit and improve
Pupils in 6H have been checking, editing and improving Mrs Haycockās writing. Apparently, I use too many words and in the piece that was being edited, I used far too many repetitive nouns! We have been able to substitute these repetitive nouns for a different type of word. I wonder if your child can remember what we substituted with?

Being Scientists in 5T!
We have caught the Science bug here in 5T and we just can’t stop experimenting. Today, with Miss Telford, Year 5 have been investigating variables when dissolving sugar. They have been looking at how the temperature of the water affects how quickly the sugar dissolves. Take a look at our experiment in the pictures below! #LovePlover
Raising money for the charity 52 lives 💜
In crew in years 5&6 we have been learning about all the amazing work the charity 52 lives carries out. We have decided to give back to them by raising money to give towards their work. On the 15th October children in 5/6 will complete acts of kindness in and around our community. The children can come dressed in purple, red or blue and any donations would be hugely appreciated!
