We are Scientists!

Year 6 were superb scientists this week. Exploring states of matter with water (using transfiguration transformations) resulted in cold hands and chocolatey mouths. Oh, and we learnt lots of new vocabulary too like sublimation!

Hook Week

We’ve had a fabulous week this week. We’ve had an art day, science day and to finish the week off we’ve had a Harry Potter day. I was impressed to see so many of you dressed up in gowns. I’ve seen lots of creative and collaborative learning throughout the week. Awesome, Crew Chapman.

Our celebration video from last term’s Expedition!

We are so proud of you 5/6 for not only producing awesome work last term during challenging times when some of you were working from home and adapting to online lessons but also for the amazing fundraising you all contributed to for Markham Main mining memorial. You are all amazing and I hope you enjoy this video capturing a truly awesome Expedition!

Pledges

In Crew Chapman, we have made pledges this morning to improve our writing. Lots of us are going to experiment with punctuation and begin to use a wider range of conjunctions. We wrote our pledges on a ‘golden snitch’ and put them on our Quidditch display that Mia, Shang and Ruby created for us.

Fabulous Painting!

This morning, we have been experimenting with water colours. We tested our I wonders and discussed what we noticed. We noticed that when we added salt to our painting it gave texture to our painting and that when we drew marks with a white wax crayon before painting over, it gave the impression of light. We have then used our knowledge to create beautiful art work.

We are taking a trip to Hogwarts…

Just a reminder that this Friday is our Harry Potter dress up day. We will be swapping our maths and literacy lessons and instead, we will be participating in lessons only wizards and witches engage in- defence against the dark arts, quidditch, potions, behind the magic and transfiguration. The children will each have the opportunity to be sorted into a house by the sorting hat before the day at Hogwarts begins. This is going to be such an exciting day and we can’t wait to capture all of the exciting things we get up to and we will of course share them on our blogs!
I wonder what our guiding question is going to be?
