Shout Out to Paul,
You may remember in the half term Paul made of pair of dinosaur underpants to link to our expedition.
Well, his talents don’t end there. Here he is, scaling a pattern, cutting the fabric, pinning and sewing to create a pair of joggers. How talented is that!
Amazing work Paul.

Our children have had great fun exploring measure in Year 1. They have thought about height and length, they have compared measurements and used their hands and feet to measure.
They found objects at home or in the class that they were shorter than.
The children could order themselves (and us!) from tallest to shortest, giving clear sentences to show their understanding.
They could draw objects longer or shorter than their hands.
Great work everybody.

I know we have been limited as to what we could do but I hope you have all enjoyed a break.
I’m looking forward to see you all again today, whether this is in school or online.
I also wanted to give a Shout Out to Ellis – who’s kept busy continuing his Expedition learning. I’m praise that he has been a great role model including his sister in his adventures.
And a Shout Out to Khongkwan who has been writing her name, phonics and vowels… in Thai!
My last Shout Out goes to Darcy – look at his candle experiment.
Fabulous to see you engaging in your learning during the half term.
Great work everyone.

Hi Everyone,
The Crew in KS1 wanted to say …
…to all our fabulous children and parents.
It has been a ‘strange’ half term with some of our children working online and some in school. But you have adapted and worked so well. You have made us all super proud.
Over the last week we have been scientists exploring materials, this has included sorting materials, looking at the properties of materials – including burning them! You have seen this work on the class blogs.
Many of you have enjoyed baking this week – I hope you really looked at how materials change when mixed and cooked!
In maths you were creative with the resources you used to help you.
Now I hope you all have a really well earned rest over the half term. Let’s hope that next half term at some stage it is safe enough for us all to be back in the classroom together.
Keep safe everyone
KS1 Crew

Drum Roll Please…
My Pride of Plover this week is Isabelle, she has been on line every day completing all work to a really high standard.
Isabelle has completed lots of additional activities at home and just embraces her learning.
You absolute superstar.
I am so proud of all of the children who contributed to the Santander ‘thank key workers’ valentines display. This is the display so far and I am sure you will all agree, it looks beautiful! Keep an eye out for the video of all the contributions, which will be coming very soon! Well done everyone!

As part of our Expedition we have been learning about the properties of materials.
Yesterday we investigated what happened to a range of materials when they were put next to a flame.
The children used fabulous words to describe what they saw including charring, melting, burning, flammable and inflammable.
It was fabulous to see Ellis and Paul’s photographs and work.
They have obviously been hard at work too!

Look at Ellis’ London Eye.
I am so impressed to see that he is using power tools – obviously under adult supervision. Great work Ellis. You can see how hard he is concentrating – what a super final product.
Both in school and at home we have enjoyed learning more about products of materials. The children loved having a scavenger hunt and then sorting materials not as much fun putting things away at the end though 🙂
Great to see you all enjoying your learning 🙂
