This week, year 4 went on a school trip to Wildrespin to experience what it would be like as an evacuee during WWII. We looked at different job roles during WWII, learnt more about The Blitz, as well as experiencing leaving home and attending a new school.
We’ve got vacancies at Carcroft School!
Time to read crew- making book reviews for our friends
In time to read crew, Year 6 have been creating book reviews based on their recent reads. We have filled our new book corners with these reviews to inspire our friends to read our favourite books. Our challenge is to add a range of genres to our reviews. Once children have read a book recommended by a friend, they are going to add their own mini reviews on post it notes.
Keep reading 6B!

Expert visitor! Building on our prior knowledge on constellations!
Yesterday, Year 5 & 6 pupils had an expert in school yesterday to build on the work they had engaged in with the space dome earlier that day. They talked in great detail about consolations and how we will be able to look out for these on our upcoming stargazing event.
How exciting!

Space dome fun! 6B were immersed into their new expedition- How does movement affect our would?
6B were immersed into their new expedition yesterday. They had the opportunity to spend time in the space dome and learn all about the solar system, consolations and living in space. The children loved it!
Ask them about which consolations they saw!

We’ll meet again! (I promise)
3H were evacuated to Barton-upon-Humber on Tuesday. Parents waved us on our way as we left the city of Doncaster with gas mask boxes, name cards and packed lunches in hand. On our arrival at Wilderspin School, we met our billeting officer – Naomi – who showed us where we would have to stay and told us what would be expected of us as a child in 1940’s Britain. She then gave us a stereotypical 1940’s school experience where we heard Princess Elizabeth’s speech to the nation during this difficult time.
Later, Ian taught us all about Churchill’s Cogs. It’s fair to stay that 3H didn’t realise quite how difficult life was for children during World War Two.
What a fabulous day!

Kind Koby in Crew
In Crew Meade today, we created our class norms of how we want and expect our crew and friends to behave in our class, our school and our world. Koby came up with some lovely suggestions on how to be kind and showed it first hand, by using kind hands and telling a teacher when something happened with another child. #LovePlover
Eyes and Ears and Mouth and Nose
F2M painted on their features of their faces today, we used a mirror to see our beautiful faces and a little song to remind up… can you guess which song it was? #LovePlover
