3.2.1 BLAST OFF!

Today we had fun with Alfresco Learning and the Science experts! We made our own rockets and launched rockets that blasted into space like Mae Jemison. We learnt about how rockets work and the constellation of stars in space. It was great fun! We are scientists! #LovePlover

Magna Field Trip

We are looking forward to our field trip to Magna today.

Please arrive in school promptly at the normal time of 8:45, we will be setting off at 9am.

Please wear sensible, comfortable shoes or trainers , as there will be quite a lot of walking and going up and down stairs.

Please bring a coat as it can be very cold inside the old building, even when it warm outside. There is also a chance you might get a little bit wet in the water zone.

Please remember your packed lunch and a drink. Lunches will be safely stored and will not have to be carried around.

Remember we will be returning to school for 4pm.

See you all soon,

Mrs Graves

Goodbye butterflies

We set the butterflies free today. The children were very excited as the butterflies came out of the net. They watched as they flew away. They made lots of comments about their beautiful wings.

Goodbye Butterflies!

Today we set our butterflies free after they had all hatched from their chrysalis. We were all very excited as they flew off and some of us were even lucky enough t hold them. The children all found it hilarious that one jumped onto Miss Wood’s nose!

Books, bodies and burps! A week in 4G

We have had a great week, learning about the digestive system.

We kicked off Wednesday with a demonstration of how food is digested using biscuits, tights and water. Once we had finished saying ‘urghhh’, we got on with the real science stuff about how the different parts of the digestive system work. We read a great book about children that got trapped inside the digestive system and then we began labelling and explaining the digestive system on an interactive app called Seesaw.

On Thursday we celebrated World Book day in style with wonderful costumes and great activities. We learnt how to draw this year’s book characters and shared a book called Bloom. In the afternoon we had great fun having an online quiz about books.

I’m really proud of how hard every one has been working this week , keep it up guys!

Butterflies

After watching our caterpillars form their chrysalis’ over the last couple of weeks, today we came into school to find our first butterfly! The children were so excited.

Scientist Observation

1M looked at how our plants had grown over the last 2 weeks during their investigation. All 3 bean plants had sprouted and grown. We noticed the one without sunlight was white because it was lacking the nutrients and energy from the sun. The two which had sunlight were green but the one with water looked healthier and stronger with more leaves. The bag with no water, produced some water due to moisture. #ReadySteadyGrow #LovePlover
