Our beautiful gallery deserved a post of its very own. The children worked so hard to create the finished piece; they look wonderful! They were so proud of their work and we are so proud of them! Well done 1C.

This week we have had fun being active in the hall and on the field. We have used a range of different movements and shown courage to have a go at something that has been tricky.

It was brilliant to see the first winners of our Pride of Plover in KS1. We heard about children showing resilience, determination, hard work and above all, respect. It was lovely to hear how the children have made a positive impression on the adults in KS1 with the effort that they have put into their learning. Well done, everyone!

To summarise our learning of the Great Fire of London, we created our own timeline of events. We talked about Chronological Order and why the events had to be in time order. The children challenged each other and debated the sequence of the events. The looked at the dates on the cards as well as thinking about reasons why, for example “they can’t shout for help and fire if the fire hasn’t started yet.” By the end, we had made an accurate timeline of events. The children were very proud of themselves!

In 1C last week, we became Architects! We learned all about Christopher Wren; was tasked to resign London after the Great Fire. When designing the new streets of London, there were important things for us to consider. The children labelled their plans specifying that the buildings must be made of “brick or stone” and that there must be space between the houses. They could explain why they had made these design choices!

We are starting our unit of art and this will include painting. If possible, could you please send the children in with a spare top that you do not mind getting dirty.
Thank you!

On our Wednesday Crew, we have been learning how to sign. We have been recapping all the greetings they have learned. We have even challenged ourselves to “silent check-ins”, completed fully in sign! Here are some videos so you can sign along too!
We have been practising independent in our snack time this week and buttered our own toast. Look how good we are at this skill. Yummy!

We have had lot’s of fun practising our counting skills this week. We have had fun in the water tray with 10 little ducks and the interest tray with 5 little speckled frogs.

This week we have enjoyed caring for our babies. We learnt the nursery rhyme Miss Polly and we cared for and gave the babies a bath to feel better. This led onto a discussion about being hygienic and looking after ourselves. We also explored full and empty concepts in Maths.
