Script Detectives in 3L

Today we had to look for script writing features. We used a highlighter to find the different features in the text and transferred them to the fish bone. We were looking for conjunctions, prepositions, different sentence openers and present tense. This helps us to know what we need to include when we write our own information scripts at the end of this English cycle. #loveplover

Cotton Bud Skeletons

This week we have really enjoyed our hook activity as we begin our new English cycle. For this task we have been busy creating skeletons from cotton buds. #loveplover

Inspired by Learning

I love to hear how our expeditions inspire our children to go out and take their learning further.

I was thrilled today when Ashton brought a very special letter that he had received into school. Ashton wrote to Sir David Attenborough and got a lovely personalised reply back.

Ashton said that he told Sir David how much he enjoyed his programmes and that his favourite animal is a Blue Whale. Well done Ashton for taking the initiative and writing the letter.

We have had quite a few children visiting the dentist over the last few weeks. When Bradley went, he asked for photographs to compliment his learning – well done Bradley!

Thank you Doncaster Stories

Today we feel really lucky as Doncaster Stories, the Childrenā€™s University and the Doncaster Opportunity area have provided all KS2 children with bags and craft resources to take part in the Doncaster Reading Miles challenge!

All Children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are being encouraged to read at least 10 minutes a day and to work their way round their Doncaster map, earning stickers as they reach their destination.

Completing the map will count towards the Childrenā€™s University graduation and will earn the children certificates.

We are also going to have our own friendly competition in school.
