Photo shoot excitement

Thank you to Mr Bubb, who has been in school this morning taking photographs of some of our children. The children’s photographs will be displayed in the Frenchgate Centre as part of the Booker Prize and relate to books that have inspired them. Have a look at some behind the scenes footage and don’t forget to go into the Frenchgate Centre to see the final images. #LovePlover

LKS2 crews are buzzin’

We have been really busy in crew over the last couple of weeks researching and designing beautiful bee-friendly gardens as part of the BBC’s Big Bee Challenge competition.

Children may have brought their designs home with an entry form, if they want to the enter the competition.

We will be posting the designs tomorrow but entry forms have to be completed by parents (not school), so please could parents fill in the short entry form and return to school ( or you can post the individually from home if you wish).

The prize is to have the garden created at a children’s hospital and the winners will be invited to the opening on 20th August when they will be on Radio 2 Breakfast show with Zoe Ball. This is why entries need to be completed by parents as you have to guarantee being available on that date.

The children have certainly enjoyed finding out more about the bees and have been really creative with their designs.

So fingers crossed one of our children has the winning design!

Thank you so much to W H Smith for gifting us a number of Marcus Rashford’s book ‘how to be the best you can be’. I know our children will be so excited to read these books!

Bake sale tomorrow- 3pm

Good morning all! Just a reminder that the bake sale will take place at 3pm outside Year 6 classrooms (socially distanced of course). Any donations towards the sale would be hugely appreciated. Cakes and sweet treats will be 50p- if you have the correct change that would be amazing! We hope to see you all there 🙂

Year 4 – Voicing our opinions!

We were visited today by representatives from Sandall Beat Wood. They are wanting to replace the play equipment that was destroyed by fire and wanted to know what suggestions Year 4 had to replace it.

First of all, we shared our imaginative ideas and then we were given four stickers to select our favourites from a choice of equipment.

We would like to thank Nicky and Kate for coming and talking to us and also for letting us have a say about what will happen in our community over the next year.
We were so inspired by the visit, we then decided to design our own parks to go with our Expedition, how to make Doncaster more healthy.

A gift for our community.

Key Stage 1 have taken a small party of children to our local library this morning to gift our community with a book that celebrates the poems and pictures that we created during our expedition ‘Is London Still Burning?’. The book is available for anyone to see and look at – simply ask at the counter for it (It should be available on the shelves behind the counter). The children were amazed by what the library actually offered and they were even more amazed by the children’s section and all of the books that they could borrow. The library is now open so they would be thrilled if you took your children along for them to show you our book and maybe borrow some for themselves!
