Times Tables Rockstars…

The competition is heating up in upper KS2 but who has made it to the top of the leaderboard this week?

The individual competition had an out and out winner in Y6…well done Coby! I’ve never seen such a whizz on the keyboard as you when you’re battling away! Your crew mates are really proud of you.

We also thought this was the case with Y5 until last night when the person who had been at the top for so long finally got caught and then beaten by 2 seconds! Well done Ella your grit and determination got you there. Be proud!

But which class took the title this week? It was 5K! Well done everyone for a super crew effort!

A shout out to the lovely Lacie who is this week’s yellow t-shirt winner. I have seen some awesome Expedition work this week for her. Lacie is ALWAYS a superstar! She always works hard, gets smart and is kind. She always has a smile on her face and she is an all around pleasure to teach. Well done lovely! Please keep it up!

Accelerated Reader League

This is becoming my favourite part of the Pride of Plover Assembly, announcing which class is the winner of the Accelerated Reader League!

Congratulations to 6C who have passed the most quizzes, for two weeks running.  However, 6B was very close – it was tight by only 1.6%!

A shoutout goes to 3L, who have been in the top 3 places for the last three weeks.

1st place: 6C

2nd place: 6B

3rd place: 3L

We have seen an increase in the number of quizzes passed for most classes, which means lots of reading and quizzing is happening- both at home and in school!  Keep up the awesome reading KS2.

Pride Of Plover/ Shoutouts!

There has been some awesome work this week in Year 6.  In Maths, children in school and online  have  shown great perseverance when grappling  with Fractions and Decimals.  I have been very impressed.

Mrs Haycock says thank you to all of you who have handed in your English assessments.  She is impressed to your commitment to learning and I know Miss Blackham is impressed with the quality of work she is receiving for Expedition.

Our Pride of Plover winners are: Oliver 6C, Lacie 6B and Lexi 6H.  These children have been chosen because they always work hard and get smart.  They are also great coaches to other children in the class.  Keep it up, you guys!

Dunkin Doughnut Winners!

Well done to Layla and Paras for winning the box of Dunkin Doughnuts.  I know that everybody’s mouths were watering when they saw the boxes in the Pride of Plover Assembly this morning, including my own.

A huge shout out goes to everybody in Year 5 and 6 as there were lots of entries.  Nearly everybody had at least one raffle ticket, meaning children who are at home and in school have been reading.

Keep up the awesome reading!

Dunkin Donuts!

Children across school have been reading and quizzing to be entered to win a box of 6 Dunkin Donuts. Your teachers are incredibly proud of the effort you have put into reading over the past few weeks!

Due to success of this competition, we have decided to run the competition again! There will be a winner from each class and every time you read (and quiz for those children in KS2) in school or at home, you will be entered into the draw!

You have from Friday 26th February until Thursday 26th March to enter. Winners will be announced in Pride of Plover assembly on Friday 27th March, with the winners bringing their boxes of donuts home from school with them!

Good luck everyone!

World Book Day – Friday 5th March

World Book Day will be celebrated in school and at home on Friday 5th March. We would love all children to get involved in the fun. This year, the theme of World Book Day will be ‘Books That Make You LOL’. We would like to invite all children to dress up as a character from a book that makes them laugh. There will be prizes up for grabs for the most creative efforts put into a costume.
Please see our exciting World Book Day Google Site for all the information you will need for the big day!

More gorgeous Expedition work!

Shang’s presentation

A shout out to Shang and Jasmine for sharing their gorgeous Expedition work with me today. I am so impressed with the efforts you have both put in. Jasmine has created a flow chart on how coal is formed and Shang has created some slides based on the day in the life of a child miner. I am so proud of you both girls- well done and please keep it up!

Our mining expert visitor!

We are so lucky to have been able to have a Q&A session with Mr Taylor who worked down the mine in Rossington for 15 years. He shared all of his experiences, stories and he answered all of the questions the children had. We found out what job role he had, the hours he worked, the conditions he worked in, what he enjoyed the most and much more! The children learnt so much and were so hooked in!

Thank you Mr Taylor!
