Tuesday 23rd June maths answers

Here are the answers for today’s maths questions. Let me know how you did.

TGB: subtraction within 20.

Starter- I’m thinking of a number…

My number is 10 more than 2. What is my number? 12

My number is 10 less than 15. What is my number? 5

My number is 1 more than 13. What is my number? 14

My number is 1 less than 20. What is my number? 19

My number is 2 more than 4. What is my number? 6

Here are some questions for you to have a go at.

You could use the tens frames or number lines to help you work out these equations.

14 – 6 = 8

13 – 7 = 6

11 – 3 = 8

18 – 7 = 11

16 – 3 = 13

14 – 7 = 7

15 – 8 = 7

12 – 8 = 4

11- 5 = 6

Problem solving

Miss Lotysz has 18 biscuits. She eats 9. How many biscuits does she have left? 18 – 9 = 9

Miss Lister has 11 books. She gives 3 away to children in her class. How many books does she have left? 11 – 3 = 8

There were 14 stars twinkling in the sky. Some disappeared and there was 6 left. How many disappeared? 14 – 8 = 6

There were 20 apples for sale. Some were bought and there was 12 left. How many apples were bought? 20 – 8 = 12

There were 19 cars for sale. Some were bought and there was 6 left. How many were bought? 19 – 13 = 6

Can you write a subtraction equation and post it in the classroom for your friends to solve?

Here is a game for you to have a go at once you have completed your learning.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/subtraction-grids

I would like you to focus on numbers up to 20 for this game.

Wednesday 24th June maths answers

Here are the answers to today’s maths learning. Let me know how you got on.

TGB: adding by making ten.

First let’s practise our number bonds to ten.

0 + 10 = 10

1 + 9 = 10

2 + 8 = 10

3 + 7 = 1

4 + 6 = 10

5 + 5 = 10

6 + 4 = 10

7 + 3 = 10

8 + 2 = 10

9 + 1 = 10

10 + 0 = 10

Here are a few questions for you to have a go at.

Use Mo’s method to calculate the following equations.

Here is a number line to help you.

5 + 8 = 13  (5 + 5 + 3)

9 + 4 = 13 ( 9 + 1 + 3)

6 + 7 = 13 (6 + 4 + 3)

8 + 3 = 11 ( 8 + 2 + 1 )

6 + 9 = 15 ( 6 + 4 + 5)

9 + 8 = 17 (9 + 1 + 7)

2 + 9 = 11 ( 2 + 8 + 1)

4 + 7 = 11 (4 + 6 + 1)

Challenge

Using the make ten method can you solve these problems.

Miss Lotysz went to the shop. She bought 8 loaves of bread and 7 packs of ham to make sandwiches for her party. How many items did she buy altogether? 15

The shopkeeper bought 5 bouncy balls and 9 kites to sell in his shop. How many items did he buy altogether? 14

Miss Topliss went to the circus she saw 4 singing mermaids and 8 acrobats perform. How many did she see altogether? 12

Miss Lister went to the seaside she bought 9 buckets and and 7 spades. How many items did she buy altogether? 16

There were  5 butterflies and 7 bees in the garden. Three more ladybirds joined them.

How many minibeasts were in the garden altogether? 15

Don’t forget to share any maths learning you have completed with me today, you never know it might make it onto the blog.

English Tuesday 23rd June

Good morning Key Stage One.

Today we are going to be learning about the past and the present tense.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrqqtfr/articles/z3dbg82

Use the clip above to learn about the past, present and future tense.

In Key Stage One, we only need to learn about past and present tense, so don’t be too worried about the future tense. Perhaps you can try the quiz too?

Past tense – these sentences tell us something that has already happened.

Miss Topliss went to the shops.

Miss Lotysz had a lovely weekend.

Miss Lister walked her dog.

Present tense – these sentences tell us something that is happening now.

Miss Topliss is going to the shops.

Miss Lotysz is having a lovely weekend.

Miss Lister is walking her dog.

Have a go at writing these past tense sentences in the present tense

  1. Miss Topliss was painting a picture.

Miss Topliss ____________ a picture.

  1. Miss Lotysz was opening a present.

Miss Lotysz _____________ her present.

  1. Miss Lister was using the phone.

Miss Lister ______________ the phone.

Have a go at writing these present tense sentences in the past tense

  1. Miss Topliss is jumping on her trampoline.

Miss Topliss _________________ on her trampoline.

  1. Miss Lotysz is making a card.

Miss Lotysz __________________ a card.

  1. Miss Lister is eating an apple.

Miss Lister __________________ an apple.

Challenge!

Can you write some of your own sentences using the past and present tense? Perhaps you could write some sentences using our story, The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

Tuesday 23rd June

Good Morning,

Another beautiful day ahead of us – hopefully you will get chance to go outside – but wear a hat and sun tan lotion!

We would like you to continue describing the setting in the forest for a Midsummer Night’s Dream –  use your imagination and choose wonderful vocabulary to create a picture in the reader’s mind. You should be able to close your eyes and imagine the place from the description.

Maths we are looking at plotting points on a grid as a bit of revision.

If you haven’t done a Tudor portrait yet, please do one for our gallery and write a biography to go with it – we are putting together the art gallery now and don’t want you to miss out.

Last of all – we are having a BIG QUIZ on Friday at 1:30 – look out for the code to join – it is all a bit of fun!

Have a nice day

Mrs Graves

There’s lots to do in our online classrooms so make sure you head on over and let me know how you are today. I’m looking forward to seeing the learning you do today and remember to shout up if you need any help.

Have a great day!
