Year 5 Harry Potter trip- Friday 24th September

Please find further information and details here:

Dear Parents,

We are so excited about our first Expedition trip as year 5 on Friday 24th September to HARRY POTTER STUDIO TOUR (LONDON)

We would just like to remind you of the following:

The coaches will leave school at 7.30am – please arrive at your classroom by 7am.

The coaches will return to school at approximately 7:30pm (we will keep you informed via text).

Please take into account the length of the day we will be out when packing lunches. Children will require extra food in their packed lunch – eg. Cereal bar in the morning, normal packed lunch and a snack/tea prior to leaving the studio plus at least 3 drinks.  Pupils entitled to Free School Meals will be provided with a packed lunch from school but additional snacks will need to be provided from home.

Children need to wear their school jumper/cardigan and top, jogging bottoms / leggings and comfortable footwear.

Children MUST NOT bring a mobile phone on the visit but they are welcome to bring a camera (they will need to look after it themselves).  They may also bring a book or something to do on the coach that isn’t electronic.

Finally, if your child suffers from travel sickness, please ensure that they take their tablet before arriving at school and then bring one in a named envelope for the return journey and givethis to their class teacher. Parents will also be required to sign for this at the office too.

Yours sincerely

Bread and butter

Today we have been practising how to use a knife to butter our bread. The children did some really good spreading and enjoyed eating it afterwards! Yummy.

Which nappy is the most absorbent?

Year 6 can help you with this question. Today we have been testing which brand of nappy holds the most liquid, after learning that astronauts wear a special type of nappy for long missions. Brands such as Pampers, improved their nappy based on NASA’s research. Asda’s brand was the best, holding 13 cups of water before it leaked.

Year 5/6 reading challenge!

Calling all year 5/6 children… do you want to be in with a chance to win a £25 voucher to spend at Intake fish and chips… to treat your family to a chippy tea? Well listen up! From Monday, you will each be given a reading record and every time you read to an adult at home and they sign it, you will get a ticket into the draw. The winner will be selected on Thursday 14th October!

If you are struggling to read at home, you can opt to read to me at break times and I can sign this for you.
Let’s get reading!

Teamwork makes the dream work!

3LS have been getting smart and working hard together. We’ve been working collaboratively to solve Viking Maths problems and research Viking beliefs and mythology. I’ve been really impressed with how the children have got along and helped eachother.

English with 1N

Today, my class were fantastic at using their phonics knowledge to write words that matched pictures. Well done 1N you are smashing year 1! 👍🏻

We are scientists!

Today 6H have been scientists. We have examined a variety of nappy brands, looked at their properties and predicted which brand we thought would be the most absorbent. We could not believe quite how much liquid the nappies soaked up. One brand far outweighed the others in absorbency…I wonder if your child can tell you how they carried out their investigation and what their findings were.

I do like to be beside the seaside!

What a beautiful sunny day. We put up the gazebo over the sandpit and pretended that we were at the seaside. We added water to the sand and poured it to make it like the waves.

Some of the children pretended there was an ice-cream shop and we had ice-cream sitting on the sand.

There was some fantastic imagination and we had a brilliant time.

Hook Week Continues!

I’m so excited to see you all in your superhero costumes tomorrow! Remember on Friday to come dressed as a real life hero, this could be someone famous or someone you know or a role model! I wonder if we will have any police men/women or firefighters?

PE kits for next week on Tuesday please, I’ll try and remember to remind you closer to the time.

Today we went on a scavenger hunt for super powers! Then we thought about why these traits are important and we thought about people who have them. Then, we turned ourselves into superheroes and decorated the classroom! I’m so impressed with your artistic skills! Loving the happy smiley faces too!
