Experimenting in Year 5

This afternoon, we are having a very messy, but fantastic time, trying to turn our muddy water (kindly made at lunchtime by Regan and Mathew) clear again! There are all kinds of interesting ideas about how to make the water clear again! I wonder which ones will work? #LovePlover

Decorating the cake

We decorated our cake today. There was some fantastic descriptive language used when we poured the icing sugar into the bowl.

Foggy, like the snow falling gently, powdery like the pieces left after the fire, wind blowing the dust, sparkle bits like magic fairy dust.

We presented the cake to Miss Benn as it was her birthday today. It was delicious too!

It’s my birthday

We have learnt the story and today read the recipe to go with the story. We had lots of fun baking the cake. Tomorrow we will decorate it and then eat it. Yummy!!

Reading improvement

Today we read sentences in a recipe to help us with our baking. Vlad and Alec read the sentences independently. Ruby-Ann and Paisley showed that they had learnt Phase 2 tricky words as they were reading. Our shout out goes to them today for moving onto red reading shelf. Well done girls. Keep up the fantastic learning.
