Let’s send Tom a birthday card!

I am sure lots of you have seen this amazing gentleman raising millions of pounds for our NHS. We would love to send him some birthday cards for his 100th birthday on the 30th April. If you would like to make Tom a card, please share them with your teachers or with me [email protected] by next Thursday- this could be a simple ‘happy birthday Tom’ poster which you are holding and your parents take a photo of and email in. We will then create a special booklet of your photos to send him! Let’s make this heroes day by sending him as many special Plover birthday wishes as possible!

Thursday 16th April

Good Morning!

I now have access to your art classrooms Mrs Foster has set up, so had a lovely time looking at the drawings and art you have been doing.

You have been creative these last few weeks. Lola made a lovely Easter Egg scene and Bethannie has been creative.

Only two days left of the Easter Egg Hunt. I wonder who will win the prize?

Keep filling in the feelings check and take care.

Wednesday 15th April

Good Morning

It’s another beautiful day, the sun is shining and it is warmer again.

Today is World Art Day and I was listening to Tony Ross (writer of the Little Princess books and illustrator of the David Walliams books) on the Radio 2 this morning and he set a challenge to write an 8 page or 12 page picture book. He explained you only need a few sheets of A4 paper folded in half and you are ready to go. He talked about making the front cover really ‘wow’ and different to the rest of book. He said to use your imagination – to be be more imaginative than you have ever been in your life!

So that got me thinking – I wonder if you could write a picture book story and make it really amazing – it would be a brilliant thing to do to pass the time in isolation, but also what a great thing to keep for the future as a memory of your time!

So that is my challenge to you – write and illustrate a picture book. You can share it with me by scanning it or taking photos and emailing it to me! I will think of a prize!!

Remember to do the feelings check-in and don’t forget to look for the Easter Eggs on the school blogs – prizes are at stake!

Keep safe, get some fresh air and follow the guidelines,

Have a nice day,

Mrs Graves

To listen to Tony Ross giving more tips on writing a story book, go to the BBC Sounds App and listen to the Zoe Ball show at around 7:45am
