Pride of Plover 24.4.2020
And this week’s Pride of Plover is ……IMG_0041
Good Morning,
I hope we are all well. It is another lovely day.
I hope you are enjoying being historians and investigating the Tudors. You will be learning about somebody very famous from history today. He is so famous, songs have been written about him.
You are going to do some writing in English – let’s make this really good by putting some time and effort into like you would at school.
Remember the work I set is for when you should be at school, so you do not have to submit work over the weekend.
I will be announcing our Pride of Plover later and there is going to be a fantastic Feel Good Friday video later, so watch out for that. Also get your grown ups to check out the Plover School page on Facebook- there will be more videos on there too from the Trust.
Take care,
Mrs Graves
Good Morning,
It has been great seeing so many of you back online and submitting work. I hope you are starting to get more curious about our new expedition ‘Why are the Tudors important?’ and you are wanting to find out more.
Whilst it has been great to see how dedicated you have been to completing your work, please remember it is designed to be done during the day when you would normally be in school. I realise you might be sharing computers and tablets, but you really shouldn’t be doing the work at night or over the weekend, you need time off too. I do not expect you to be spending all of your time doing school work. As a guide, you should spend approximately an hour of maths, an hour of English and an hour of expedition/curriculum learning (including art, PE and expedition work.). All work on classroom has a hand-in date and time -use that as a guide as to when to get your work finished by.
Have you seen the front page news? Craig-Junior in year 5 brought his English learning to life by writing a letter to Sir David Attenborough, one of his heroes, and would you believe it, he got a hand-written letter back from Sir David. It just goes to show the power of the pen! I wonder who you would write a letter to and what you would include? Why don’t you give it a go? Let me know how you get on.
Finally, please send me a message if you (or you mum or dad) are finding your work tricky, I might not be able to answer immediately, but I will get back to you to help. Please, please, please do not struggle. You could also use the stream on classroom to ask your friends if someone can coach you through a question. I am impressed at how well your google docs and slides skills are improving – I have also learnt so much over the last few weeks!
Have a great day and complete the feelings chart.
Take Care

Wednesday 22nd April
Good Morning!
How are you feeling today?
It’s Wishful Wednesday – if you could have one wish, what would it be?
Check out the animation I shared yesterday done by some children in school – I wonder if you could create something like that? It was just done using a free app called ‘Stop Motion’ and is literally made from hundreds of photos – have a go and see what you can do.
Today you are going to be historians, but you are going to have a go at building you your historical vocabulary.
In maths you are learning about quadrilaterals and in English you will be reading chapter 2 of our book and thinking about character.
Have a go at the PE challenge again and comment your score and check out Mrs Foster’s art room challenges.
Be kind to your grown-ups at home, I’m sure they are doing their best to help!
Take care, keep safe and do the feeling check-in!
Mrs Graves
Sorry for the delay in posting – I have been having trouble with the internet
Maddison, Lucas and Lewis have been developing new skills this afternoon, learning how to animate a short film using stop-frame animation – the same technique used to make the Wallace and Gromit films!
I think you will agree that their first attempt is pretty impressive!
Good Morning,
Another lovely day.
Congratulations to Bethannie and Lacie for winning the Blog Easter Egg hunt. They correctly solved the clue as Stay Safe! and will get their prize today.
Well done also to those of you who have watched my video and put comments. You are quite right to thing the items are from the past and linked to our new expedition – but how are they? I do live in a very old part of my village, so that could suggest how the items got there – more information to follow. You are going to be going some more research as historians today and there is the chance to get a bit crafty!
You have maths work on triangles today and in English you are going to read the first chapter of our new Tudor Tales book. I have recorded the book for you so you can listen to it – but please could I ask that you don’t share it, as we are only allowed to record the books whilst you are not coming into school.
Make sure you do something active – could you beat your burpee score from yesterday?
Have a nice day, check in on the feelings chart and get submitting your work.
Mrs Graves
Tonight, people all over the country will be lighting up the sky with torches, phones and pictures of stars in their windows to show support for those suffering. Please get involved- share with your teachers your drawings and photos/videos of your families shining a light ✨
Good Morning,
So normally, you would be returning from the Easter holidays and the Summer Term would be starting today, but as you know, it is a little different than expected.
We are going to try and get back to a bit of a routine so every day I am going to be posting English, Maths and Expedition onto Google Classroom – so head over there, as soon as you have watched this message ….
Post a message on the Google Classroom comment stream to share your ideas after watching the video.
Enjoy your day,
I look forward to reading your work,
Remember to complete the feelings chart!
