Year 1 March

Let The Children March Plover style. Our children led their own march to stand up for equality and protest against segregation! Linking to our texts during our literacy/expedition (Rosa Parks, Let The Children, Martin Luther King)

The children created some powerful poster and placards – using their phonics knowledge to spell key words!

Magic Maths!

This week has been maths week! I’ve loved seeing all your home learning this week and I’m wondering if you could try any of the these activities at home.

Outside, we found sticks and rocks to represent tens and ones and made our own two digit number! Then we used chalk to write the number, it would be even better if we had written the number in letters! For some children, I would love to see creative ways you can practise your number formation. Some of us have also been using cubes to make numbers, I wonder if you have any Lego or anything at home you could do the same thing with?

Have a lovely weekend! I won’t be in school on Monday as it is my graduation but I’m looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday when we have our school trip to the fire station! (Please make sure letters are in – remember a few children will be going on Wednesday).

Maths in fun – written and digital

Children worked hard to complete their shape and pattern exit ticket in maths this morning.

Then they enjoyed choosing maths based games on the iPads which included addition, shapes, numbers and patterns!
