Making our own boats for the Gingerbread Man

Today we followed our plans and made our boats. We chose the resources that we had added on to our planning sheets.

Tomorrow we are going to sail the boats. Will they work? Can we save the Gingerbread Man?

Going to the seaside

Next term EYFS are going to be learning about the seaside. Our expedition is called What happens where the sea meets the shore? We will be learning about what the seaside looks like now and what it looked like long ago.

We are asking for your help.

If you go to the seaside for a day trip or on holiday please can you send us photos on Evidence Me. If you have any old photos that we could use or artefacts that we could look at we would appreciate seeing those also. We would like to make a timeline of changes over time.

We are looking forward to seeing your photos.

Boat expert

Today Mr stables from XP came to speak to us all about boats. Mr Stables has been sailing in the UK and across the world for 14 years now so it was very interesting to see some of his photos and hear about his experiences. Mr Stables taught us what the different parts on a boat are called and we learnt some new terms such as buoyancy. We then played a game to get used to the boat terminology and Designed our own boats.

Extending learning

Wow! An amazing afternoon. The children were creative in painting gingerbread men, drawing and telling stories. These are some of our creations.

Fantastic Friday

Well done to Ianis and Paisley who were awarded our yellow T-shirts today for always trying hard with their work, getting smart and being kind. I have seen a great improvement in Ianis’ independent writing.

Shout out’s to Dolly and Weronika in F2W who have also worked very hard today, going above and beyond with their learning and to Chase who has attended school all week this week.

Well done F2, keep it up.

We are crew

As part of academic crew today we were learning about working together on our learning and how we need to take turns and help each other. This is really important when we share books and read words together and it was something that we agreed that we need to get better at.

We made a web, taking turns and rolling the string to each other as we thought about what team work means.
