We have had lots of fun with straws today. We used them to make shapes and then make new shapes. Some children then made pictures with them.

Maths week in Foundation 1!
In Foundation 1, we use shape and number, in all of the areas of our setting.Â
We have lots of opportunities to write and cut ,shapes and numbers.
We can count our jumps and claps! In our role play area, we were looking for circles on the table, in the firework pictures and our poppy plates.
We use number and shape when we are learning outdoors too. We can match the numbers on the fence, to our bikes and mark make with chalks.Â

Well done to Ellie-May and Henry for earning the Plover Praise T-shirts this week. They are both very kind and helpful when they are at school. Well done.
Fantastic caring
Our yellow T-shirt was awarded to Avaarni today for being a fantastic model of our Plover pledge. She has been working hard and has been so thoughtful and caring in her responses to other children.

Plover postcards
Children in Foundation 1, have received the postcards for being independent when toiletting and wonderful drawing.

Remembrance day
Today we discussed remembrance day and the reasoning behind it, before holding our two minutes silence at 11 o clock. I was so proud of how quietly all the children sat to show their respects. Afterwards we coloured in some poppies and made them into a wreath.

Shape
Today we explored 2d shapes by using lollipops to make shapes. We then went away and drew around shapes to create our own shape pictures.
A shoutout to Leighton who made an amazing shape picture of the x ray department inside the hospital.

Plover Postcard
Our postcard went to Ruby-Ann today for improved concentration and listening. Well done Ruby-Ann.

Today we learnt about Remembrance Day and why we have poppies.
Raegan brought in a wonderful picture he had made at home. Alec coloured a poppy and wrote a sentence to match. Well done.
