Early years engineers

Next term EYFS are going to be Early Years Engineers. They are considering in a world of possibilities what they will make. We would like people to come and talk to the children about their jobs especially relating to creating and building – artists, joiners, builders (and related trades). If you can help or know someone who can, please let us know.

We would also like to learn how to build dens and tents that we can fit inside of, if anyone can help with this too.

Book Fair!

Exciting news! The book fair will return to Plover, next Thursday 24th November until Wednesday 1st December. The book fair will be located in the main entrance to the school between these dates each day between 3pm and 3.30pm, and entry will be through the main entrance. The book fair will visit us from ‘Travelling Books’, who are part of the Scholastic group.

There will be a range of wonderful books to choose from, as well as lots of the ever popular stationery items!

Please see your child’s class teacher for any further information.

Pride of Plover

Well done to Ianis who has worked really hard to learn nearly all of his sounds and tricky words! I also gave a shoutout to Sulieman who has been doing extra reading and writing at home and has been proud to tell me about this in the morning.

Remembrance day

Today we discussed remembrance day and the reasoning behind it, before holding our two minutes silence at 11 o clock. I was so proud of how quietly all the children sat to show their respects. Afterwards we coloured in some poppies and made them into a wreath.

Shape

Today we explored 2d shapes by using lollipops to make shapes. We then went away and drew around shapes to create our own shape pictures.

A shoutout to Leighton who made an amazing shape picture of the x ray department inside the hospital.

Shape houses

Today we discussed 2d and 3d shapes. We cut out shapes to make our own shape houses, then put them on a road to make a street.

Lots of fun

We had lots of fun today exploring colour mixing by throwing paint onto wet paper. The children created firework pictures.

We also talked about Bonfire night and what we might see, do, smell and hear. It reminded us of the festivals that other people celebrate.

Happy bonfire night!

Today we have learnt the story behind bonfire night and how to be safe around fireworks. We then enjoyed making our own firework rockets.

Pride of Plover

Well done to Nevaeh who got our yellow T-shirt today! Nevaeh has had a super attitude to learning this week, trying hard with her learning and helping her peers. Keep it up Nevaeh!

Shout out’s also to Chase and Lita who have persevered with tasks they have found tricky this week.

Happy Diwali!

To celebrate Diwali today, we lit the Diya lamps that we made before half term and read a story called “lighting a lamp”. The children enjoyed comparing similarities and differences of Diwali to Bonfire night with the fireworks and lights.
