3SG’s beautiful painting with no brushes!

I have been blown away with how everyone has approached the artwork this week.

Inspired by our key text “The Last Bear” by Hannah Gold, we recreated the front cover using acrylic paints and unusual equipment – not brushes!

First, we painted the moonlit background onto the art canvas, using a sponge and watery paint. We used a cotton wool pad to wipe away the paint from the moon.

Then, using tracing paper, we transferred our polar bear image onto the canvas.

We created the mountain with string dipped in paint and dragged the string across the canvas. We used different colours to create texture in the mountain.

We used cotton wool to dab the fur of the polar bear in shades of brown, grey and black and added white highlights where the moon light hit.

Finally, we brought our bear to life using a matchstick to add the black nose, eye and ear.

Well done 3GS, you have created masterpieces!
