We had a lovely day celebrating VE Day in F1. We used repeating patterns to make flags and spoke about why we celebrate VE Day. Our 30 hour children also enjoyed a picnic on the school field for their dinner.

In F2BP this afternoon we did tummy time. This makes our tummy muscles stronger for writing. We listened to music and this will prepare us for re-telling our story tomorrow.

We learnt about VE day and listened to some songs which the children danced to. We then made medals to remind us of the war heroes. We enjoyed our picnic on the field too. We learnt to play hopscotch like the children in the war would have played.

In PE today we learnt how to strike the ball. The children rose to the challenge and had a rally with their partner. I was really impressed. Well done F2BP.

We shared the story “The three billy goats fluff”. In this story the goats are kind to the troll and make their hooves nice and quiet so that they don’t disturb the troll. We made predictions of different materials for the hooves. We thought about what would make the hooves quiet so that the troll was happy.

In our Geography lesson today we have been learning about human and physical features. We now know that āHuman Featuresā are things that have been built by humans and āPhysical Featuresā are things that are naturally there!
We sorted the pictures into their correct category!

As part of our learning last week, we have been learning all about Amelia Earhart and the world of aviation. We looked at how flying came to be. Beginning with Leonardo Di Vinciās āFlying Machineā. We explored how fast technological developments have been made. We made our own timeline for our display which shows when we were born up to the present day. We will keep adding to this as we go along!

We took our learning outside last week and embarked on a question word hunt. The children worked in teams to see how many question words they could find in our playground. We enjoyed being out in the sun and working collaboratively with our friends.
We then came into the classroom to turn our words into sentences (and not forgetting a question mark either!) We then all wrote a question sentence based on something we had seen in our book.

When we arrived into school a mysterious suitcase had been left in our classroom. It had different items inside to show us where this person was going. But then we found a letter and a book inside; from Emma-Jane! Who our story is about! We then read her story and she visited some of the big landmarks around the globe.
We then designed our own post cards to show the place we most wanted to visit!

Better late than never!
To introduce our new topic, North, East, South, West, we opened up our own Plover Airport. As part of our experience day in 1CR we designed our very own passport for our upcoming adventures and talked about what our dream destinations are! We learned about our personal information and why it is important to know it.
We then had Mrs. Malik as an expert. Mrs. Malik worked in the aviation industry for a number of years in all different roles. She has been a highflying air hostess, travelling all over the world but as also had other roles at Heathrow Airport and Doncaster. The children used the time to ask her questions about her experiences.
After lunch we had our 1CR aeroplane. We watched an in flight safety video and prepared for take off! The children enjoyed some squash on the plane whilst watching a documentary about āThe Day in the Life of a Pilotā.
To finish our day we followed instructions to make paper aeroplanes. We then took them outside to see who could throw theirs the furthest. A big well done to Ariana who was our overall winner!
