Today we learnt to re-tell the story. The children sequenced pictures and used “Once upon a time” and “happily ever after”.

We started to act out the story of Jack and the beanstalk today with the children enthusiastically taking on different roles. Which character would you be?

You produced such lovely poems when we held our Autumn handwriting competition, I thought it would be a good idea to update our display with poems that reflect the coming season – Spring.
Choose an appropriate poem from the selection attached to this blog and copy it out beautifully, using your best handwriting and presentation.
You can decorate it and use colour if you wish.
Please give completed poems to Mrs Graves by Monday 6th March.

We had a lovely morning making pancakes and learning about pancake day. We talked about ingredients and equipment and the children really enjoyed tasting them! We need to practice using knives and forks though.

Today we received a present and card. We had to think who it was from. We opened the card and read what was inside. We came up with lots of suggestions. Could it be a princess who climbed a tower and chopped off her hair? Could it be a knight chopping a dragon as he climbed the stairs?
As we opened the present it was a book and we saw a beanstalk and guessed that it was Jack in the story.

World Book Day will be celebrated on 2nd March 2023. Children are invited to dress up if they wold like to as their favourite book character. Please do not feel any pressure to buy costumes (children can wear uniform as normal if they wish). Children are also welcome to make a badge, wear a themed t-shirt or make an accessory from their favourite story or that their favourite character uses! We will celebrate as a school throughout the day and all children will receive the £1 book token that they can exchange for a World Book Day special edition book, which are available to buy in local bookshops and supermarkets.
Please take a look at the amazing competition detailed below as part of World Book Day!
World Book Day® is helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon with a truly magical prize. One lucky winner will have the change to go on a 3-day family trip to Soltau in Germany to stay at Heide Park, the theme park that is home to an entire land based around How to Train Your Dragon. https://www.worldbookday.com/howtotrainyourdragon/
