In Years 5&6 we launched a summer term competition. All children who received an average of 3 or above on their daily HoWLs would be put into a prize draw to win a Harry Potter themed afternoon tea by Cupcakes 2 love Ltd. I am so proud that so many Year 5&6’s names were put into the draw! 5 crew coins to everyone who made it! The winners were Lexie from Year 5 and Luke from Year 6! Your afternoon teas will be with you on Tuesday to take home (I am very jealous!)

Keep up the hard work everyone!

Hello 3G

This is my first post for my new class 3G!

I am really looking forward to getting to know you better and I am sorry we can’t be in school to talk in person but here are some facts about me for now:

I have two children , Tom is at University in Lincoln studying science and Harry is about to go into Year 11 at school. Both boys love rugby and one of my favourite things to do is to watch them play in rugby matches.

I enjoy running and yoga and it is my plan to do more of both over the summer.

I like to go on holiday in this country and enjoy going to the Yorkshire Dales because of the great walks in the countryside.

I hope to find out more about you too – so why don’t you let me know what your favourite things are by emailing me: [email protected]

I am really looking forward to September, and I hope you are too.

Exciting opportunity for KS2 of 2021 parents

We have a fantastic new iPad scheme launching available initially to our KS2 children.

At XP :

  • We support and challenge students to be leaders of their own learning
  • We pull down the barriers to students learning to ensure social equity
  • We encourage creativity; respectful, individual expression

As we all know, technology continues to improve, and we are giving parents the opportunity to purchase the latest iPads which gives them access to Google Docs and many creative apps such as iMovie, GarageBand and art apps. We believe that from 2021, iPads are now the best pound-for-pound device for learning. We will be using iPad’s in lessons often and therefore recommend that if you are considering purchasing a device for your child you purchase one of these iPads.

To enable this to happen for our students, we have created a great value parental contribution scheme which offers all our parents affordable access to the latest iPad and trackpad case package with comprehensive insurance including accidental damage covered and no excess. If a device is lost or stolen, it cannot be used, repurposed or reformatted by anyone else. It becomes useless.

This cost to parents is significantly cheaper than if they were to buy them from a shop (around 20% cheaper), and they get to spread the cost over 12 – 36 months (depending on the year group of the child).  After the payment period, the iPad is theirs.

The iPads are managed by the school, which means that during school time, only apps needed for school will be available. Out of school, any other apps can be installed by students but they will not be available from 8am to 5pm on school days. During the evenings, weekends and holidays, you can use your iPad freely. After your child leaves Plover the device will no longer be managed by the school.

You can purchase a package by using the iPad link to the right of the school website.

If you have any questions about this please speak to your child’s class teacher or Miss Bush in the office in the first instance.

Thanks

Mrs Jayne Ogle
