New Year 5&6’s summer reading challenge!

We are calling all our new year 5 & 6’s to join in our summer reading challenge. We would love to see you all reading books in weird and wonderful places! You can be as creative as you like, reading upside down at home, reading in your local park, reading on holiday, reading anywhere!

We would love you to email your photos to [email protected] and we will select some winners at our first crew community meet in September! I can’t wait to see where you read and I am so excited to share the fabulous prizes we have sorted for our winners!

KS1 Celebration of Learning-Wednesday

Good morning KS1,

Just a reminder that on Wednesday morning 9.30-10.30am is KS1’s Celebration of Learning. If all grown ups come through the main reception as the CoL will be in the main hall!

It will be a nice way for our children to reflect on our expedition and end the year! They will be selling their final product prospectus for £1 and bringing home all this years learning books! #LovePlover

LKS2 Celebration of Learning Postponed to Wednesday 20th July

Due to the heat, we are putting our Year 3 and 4 Celebration of Learning back by one day , so that hopefully it will be more comfortable for everyone in the Hall.

We look forward to seeing you at 2pm on Wednesday 20th July, to celebrate the Spring and Summer Expeditions and to share with you our wonderful charity song.

If you fancy a sneak peak, you can get the digital download here: https://ditto.fm/dear-world but the CD with additional tracks will be available at the Celebration event – only £3, all money going to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for the Polar Bear Fund.

Heat Warning

I am sure you are all aware that the Met Office has extended an amber extreme heat warning for Sunday 17 July, Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July, as temperatures will build this weekend and early next week for much of England and Wales.

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/press-office/news/weather-and-climate/2022/heat-to-peak-early-next-week

As a school we will be following government guidance:

Avoiding outside play.

Reducing break times outside and eliminating them altogether if we feel the need when we assess the heat and amount of shade on the day.

Continuing to ventilate classrooms as much as possible including opening windows and doors earlier in the morning.

PE sessions will be cancelled on these days.

Children will constantly have the opportunity to fill water bottles.

We would ask you to support for the rest of the term by:

Children can wear light, loose fitting and comfortable clothing – no denim please.

Applying sun cream before children attend school and sending in sun cream to reapply should they need to.

Ensure children have sun hats.

Send children with water bottles.

Thank you for your ongoing support
