We are mathematicians!

Year 6’s have been working hard, getting smart and being kind in maths this morning! They have been working collaboratively to find the area and perimeter of a number of shapes. The children had to explain why they had come to their answers and then they had to check in with another group to compare. It was amazing to see children using language such as ‘prove it’ when challenging their peers about their answers. I also want to give a shout out to those children who participated in the pre teach extended study- it really showed you knew your stuff this morning! Super stars every one of you!

Making a Stand

Wow! I am so proud of Anez, Haprer and Arwa. After learning about the impacts of deforestation, and reading the book, ‘Climate Action’, the girls were inspired to make a stand to Mrs Ogle about using the search platform Ecosia in school, rather than Google. Ecosia is an organisation that use their profit to fund planting trees to try and help reverse the effects of deforestation. Mrs Ogle and Mrs Graves were so impressed when the girls presented their ideas to the class, that they have sent them to Mr Ap Hari at XP! Well done girls, you are helping positively change our world. I can’t wait to hear back from Mr Ap Hari! #LovePlover

We are activists!

Year 5 have been preparing speeches against deforestation; its causes, effects and how to reverse it.

Well done on using the success criteria to give specific and helpful critique 5K.

The first names in the year 6 prize draw are…

I’ve been blown away by the amount of children who accessed extended study last night. My emails were pinging last night with lots of submissions from our Year 6’s. We also had 17 children who joined our brioche breakfast this morning which was amazing to see but I am challenging all of year 6 to attend! Let’s get as many entries into the prize draw as we can. We need a Nando’s!

Marvellous maths!

Year 6 have been awesome this morning! They were each set a number of personal challenges based on yesterday’s arithmetic scores and they have absolutely smashed it! They used models to support their independent learning and it was great to see them showing their working out! Well done everyone!
