Supporting our local mining memorial

Dennis, the lovely gentleman in charge of Markham main mining memorial, personally invited these three children back to the gardens along with numerous other schools in our area. He wanted to share our anthology of poems with them as he wanted to inspire other schools to write their own. We were so proud when Dennis read out our poem in front of the newspaper representative as well as numerous ex miners and other schools! The children also really enjoyed listening to the Markham main band!

Needed – warm coat for swimming!

Many thanks first of all for those parents who remembered to take out their child’s earrings. Hair is well secured and there is no nail varnish either but…. could all children please bring a coat to school on a swimming day at the moment. I know this may change as the weather gets hotter.

What an amazing crew!

We [Crew Marshmello] have just had an amazing crew session about keeping safe online. The children, yet again, amazed me with their thoughtful comments about how to keep safe – tell parents, talk about things that make you feel uncomfortable as well as what to share/not share on line.

Crew Boseman and Branson also came into class and said they too enjoyed the session. Well done everyone!

Giving back to our mining community…

Today, Noah, Lola and Agrima represented crew 5/6 and took the money we raised for Markham Main mining memorial to Dennis along with copies of our anthology of poems. The poems will be placed on a plaque to go inside the memorial garden. We feel proud of our mining community and we desperately wanted to give something back to them once we had learnt all about the miners and how they shaped Doncaster in our last Expedition. The sponsored walk was an amazing way to raise funds and we’d like to thank everyone who took part and sponsored our pupils. The anthology of poems are available to purchase for £1 each and the money raised will be donated to Markham Main. We are so proud of you all 5/6!

Number day 2021

We were off to a measured start this morning as we estimated then measured our friends. The most surprising fact was that according to the girls some of their necks measure 40cm! Please recheck that ladies.

The lucky winner is …..

The yellow t-shirt winner this Friday is Nishal. He can always be relied upon to be a fabulous coach, a kind friend and is always working hard. Nishal has been determined to also improve his TTRS score. Well done.

Pyjamarama Day

On Friday 14th May, we will be celebrating Pyjamarama Day in school. Children are invited to come to school in their pyjamas for a suggested donation of £1. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of a bedtime story for all children. Donations will go to the National Book Trust, who use the money to help all children have a story in their homes to read. Children will be participating in some fun activities in school on this day, all linked to reading for pleasure.
