Swimming Tomorrow

As promised 5T, a quick checklist ahead of swimming tomorrow.

In your swimming bag you will need; a costume/swimming shorts, a bobble for long hair, a towel, goggles if you’d like them and you might want to fetch a plastic bag to put your wet clothing in after swimming.

Please remember a warm coat, even in good weather, as it will feel chilly when you come out of the warm swimming baths into the spring air!

Remember, we are all there to learn together and encourage one another to become the best versions of ourselves! The instructors are specialists and will have helped many people who have a range of abilities when it comes to swimming and are used to Y5 children from Doncaster visiting their pool each week. You will all be ok if you listen to instructions and try your very best – just like you do at school! It’s still a classroom, just of a different kind!

New Expedition

This week, we have immersed ourselves in our new expedition and have so far drawn plague doctors and began our new book, ‘At the sign of The Sugared Plum.’ The children had some superb ideas from the front cover – the way their thoughts and ideas are maturing is joyful to listen to. We have also looked at timelines. To help us understand how they work, we looked at significant events from our own life and placed them on a timeline from birth to present day. We then thought about historical events and figures. Our next step will be to place them on a timeline. What a wonderful start to the new term, 5T! Keep it up

Great British spring clean 🧽

Great British Spring Clean

Some of Year 5 & Year 6 participated in the Great British Spring Clean this week in conjunction with Mick from Stronger Communities and DMBC.
Unfortunately, due to the strange weather we had that afternoon of strong winds, Hail and snow we were only able to stay within the school grounds. Nevertheless, thanks to Mick and the loan of the litter pickers, we battled the elements and ensured all the litter that had blown onto the school grounds was collected and bagged up.

UKS2’s Plover’s got talent contestants!

A huge shout out to all KS2 pupils who entered Plover’s got talent. You should all be so proud of yourselves. Especially as so many of you have never preformed in front of an audience before and it takes a lot of courage to do that, especially when it’s your first time. You were all absolutely fantastic and totally deserve the ten crew coins you received. Here are a few pictures from UKS2 pupils 💙

We are thinking about our future

This week, we have been exploring our aspirations for the future, as well as how to manage our money. The children have been so mature, asking some excellent questions as they begin to explore the responsibilities they will take on when they become adults. I have loved to hear about their visions for the future! #LovePlover

Thank you to everyone who donated jars so our 5/6’s could create these gorgeous glasses for their loved ones 🌸

We do have a video of these creations close up but we are waiting on permission slips for some children in Year 5 to confirm they are allowed on our blog. Once class teachers have chased this up, we will share the video 💙
