Got a sweet tooth? You’ll love the LKS2 summer Expedition!

‘Serious about Sugar; Passionate about People’ is the Year 3 and 4 expedition for this term. Throughout the expedition, we will be investigating the question “Why is sugar NOT so sweet?” by being historians in our first case study, scientists in our second case study and by being designers in our final case study.

The children were quite excited when I told them that our final product was going to be a jar of sweets they were going to make themselves.

Letters have gone home this evening about our field trip in May to Brodsworth Hall. There is currently an exhibition at the hall that is directly linked to our first case study and it will be a great opportunity for the children to see with their own eyes, how their local area was so closely linked to significant events in history.

We have had a great start to the exhibition and the children were very good at identifying how seemingly unconnected objects were linked to our expedition and beginning to create decorations to immerse our classroom!

So many prizes!

Well done to Molly for her 1st place raffle win, she was super happy to receive the giant bunny.

A big shout out to those of you who have received your badges for walking to school. Crew Lotysz, we were so close to being third, keep up the walking next term and we might creep to 1st place.

Easter Cards with a hidden message in LKS2

Children in LKS2 have been working hard this week on producing Easter cards for their loved ones, but this year, there has been a very special message included in the cards.

We have learnt about the amazing Ukrainian tradition of making ‘Pysanky’, beautifully decorated eggs using coloured dyes and wax. Traditionally, the eggs carry messages through the use of symbols.

We have recreated our version of the ‘Pysanky’ and we have selected symbols to decorate them to send a message of hope to the Ukrainian people.

I hope our families enjoy the lovely colourful cards with a hidden message.

Brimming with talent in LKS2

We held a celebratory community crew this morning in LKS2 to congratulate all the fantastic children that took part in Plover’s Got Talent yesterday.

I was a very proud Phase Leader, watching the courage and talent of the children that took part. from fabulous dancing to amazing artwork, great guitar playing to super song singing, joyous joke-telling to brilliant beat-boxing, all the children gave it their all and took their moment to shine.

I’m sure it was an afternoon they will remember for the rest of their lives – I know I will!

Well done everyone!

4BW are mathematicians!

In maths we have been learning all about area and perimeter and I have been amazed with their perseverance and desire to challenge themselves. Their super learning has been evident in their exit ticket completed today.
Well done 4BW!
