LKS2 Striding out for Polar Bears

Well done to the children of Year 3 and 4 who managed to complete the walk for Polar Bears last week. I’m please to say that most crews walked further than the planned 20 miles per crew.

The children will now be collecting their sponsorship money and should have their completed sheets with them. If possible, please could we have all sponsorship money in for Friday 4th March please.

World Book Day Competition

Ahead of World Book Day, which is held on Thursday 3rd March, we would like to invite all children to make a book character from a toilet roll tube (or something of an equivalent size that you have at home). You can bring them into your class on World Book Day and one child from each phase will win a special prize! Below are some photos that might give you some inspiration but please let your imaginations run wild! We can’t wait to see your creations! #LovePlover

Sponsored walk

We started our sponsored walk today, to raise money for the polar bears. Even when the rain started, the children still carried on! Same time again tomorrow Crew Lotysz.

International Polar Bear Day

Parents, carers and friends,

International Polar Bear Day is coming soon, February 27th! the charity ‘Polar Bears International’ created the day to coincide with the time when polar bear moms and cubs are snug in their snow dens. As part of their celebration, they are focusing on the need to protect denning families across the Arctic.

We are doing our bit in school by completing a sponsored walk of 20 miles per crew over the course of this week, to replicate how far a polar bear might travel in a day.

In the lead up to the day, here are the live events and special outreach planned by the charity for anyone to join, starting a few days beforehand and ending on the day itself. Bring your curiosity and tune in to learn about mums and cubs, the threats they face, and how you can help ensure their future.

To get more information about the day’s events, follow this link:https://polarbearsinternational.org/act-now/awareness-events/international-polar-bear-day/?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=84abf347-22c0-4a9c-b77b-1ab0f1a83edb

The school has no control of the content of this day as it is an international event, so we advise you to look into any events beforehand to ensure suitability for your children.
