Getting Smart

Well done to Edith who had remembered today that apples must be a fruit because they have seeds in them!

Shout out to Cohen too, who when doing his printing, said “I only need to paint the green leaves because cauliflowers are white”.

Tractor Role Play

We have been learning about harvest and Autumn. Outside we created a tractor to extend our learning in provision. The children loved pretending to drive the tractor and gathering corn.

Getting Active

At the start of both our morning and afternoon sessions we have been working on getting more physically active, to help get get our brains ready to learn. So far this week we have enjoyed doing “wake up shake up” dances and play dough disco, which also helps to develop our fine motor skills. It’s been lovely to see the children so active and involved!

Soft Play

As part of our Tuesday afternoon hall time we have been learning some circle games such as duck duck goose and farmers in his den. This week we was lucky enough to have some of our new soft play equipment arrive! The children loved working together to build towers with the shapes and race on the bouncey horses.

Fruit/Vegetable Tasting

In expedition we looked at the story Oliver’s vegetable. We then spoke about how we know if is a fruit or a vegetable before trying some fruit and veg ourselves. I was so proud of each and every member of our crew, as everybody tried every single piece of fruit and veg. Some children then recorded whether they liked it with a happy/sad face whilst others showed me with either a thumbs up or down.

EYFS family session Harvest Festival

For our family session we are having a harvest festival on Monday 2nd October at 2.15. Come along and join in with some songs and see the pictures children have been making.

We would appreciate donations of tins and dry food. These will go to support Plover Pantry.

We’re Going On A Shape Hunt

Today we have been using shape magnifying glasses to help us spot shapes within the environment. We learnt how many sides a circle, square and triangle have and practised drawing them in the air with our finger.

A special shoutout to Sophia who has found over 10 circles around our classroom!

Fine Motor

This week we have been practising our fine motor skills. I have set the children the challenge of being able to put their own coats on and zip/button them up. It would be great if you can support your child in learning this skill at home too.
