4F have worked really hard this week in maths. They have enjoyed working on timetables through magic maths, and are beginning to add four digit numbers together using exchanges.
Book Fair at Plover!
From Thursday 10th November until Wednesday 16th November, Travelling Book Fairs will be at Plover School! This is a superb opportunity to check out lots of the latest books, as well as a chance to buy some of the ever popular stationery items! The book fair will be open from 3pm each day and entrance to the book fair is through the main office. Please see your child’s teacher, or Miss Topliss at the Y6 door, with any queries. We look forward to seeing you there! #LovePlover
Sam the solider
Today, Y3 and 4 met Sam the solider. He is part of the British army reserves and came into school to talk about his experience of the army. Sam told us what it takes to be a solider and how he became part of the British army reserves. The children asked lots of questions and then went on to train with Sam outside.

Comparing roles in WWII
This week, LKS2 has had the pleasure of meeting WWII experts. They talked about their experiences during that time and brought in medals, flags and images for us to look at. In class, 4F have been comparing the roles of women, men and children during WWII . We made links from our Venn diagram and explained why women, men and children shared the same/similar roles.
Sharing Stories of World War Two
Today we were lucky to have two very special visitors to Plover.
Roger and his sister Carroll came to tell us about their family’s experience of World War Two. Roger wasn’t born until after the war, but he has written about his Dad’s life, which involved fighting in the Queen’s Own Yorkshire Dragoons in the war. They even brought in a flag that their dad took from a German tank.
Carroll was only three when war broke out, but she told us so many stories about what it was like growing up during the war. She went to the nearby Intake Primary school and has memories of bomb shelters and taking drinks to Italian prisoners of war on the racecourse.
We all learnt something today, and we can’t wait to start turning their stories into our book.
We look forward to seeing them again at our celebration.
If you have any family stories of World War Two, we would love to hear them – please let your teacher know.

Wonderful week in 4F
This week, 4F have been looking at the role of women during WWII. Using our practical Venn diagram, we sorted job roles into: men, women and both. Barrington and Johnny have particularly stood out over the last couple of weeks for their thoughtful contributions to class, and kindness towards everyone.
